We recently connected with Shannon Mack and have shared our conversation below.
Shannon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I believe resilience and persistence are key. In this business, there’s a lot of rejection, and you have to be tough, thick-skinned, and strong enough to know that you’re good enough. It’s only a matter of time until you hear a “yes.”
My team and I are constantly looking for companies to partner with. We’ve faced numerous rejections and disappointments from companies we thought would say yes, only for them to decline. But it’s about staying the course, being resilient, and knowing that there are companies out there that want to work with us.
One example that illustrates this point is our pursuit of sponsorships for Pedis & Mimosas. We approached several companies, and many turned us down. Despite these setbacks, we remained persistent. We knew we had a unique and valuable show, and we were confident in our vision. After numerous rejections, we finally secured a partnership with a company that saw our potential.
This experience reinforced my belief that success isn’t just about talent or ideas; it’s about resilience and the persistence to keep pushing forward, even when the odds seem against you.

Shannon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Shannon Mack, and I’m the creator and host of Pedis & Mimosas, a unique show where I interview celebrities while enjoying mimosas and getting pedicures. My journey into the entertainment industry has been both challenging and rewarding.
I got my start in entertainment way back in college at Villanova University. After college, I became a radio personality at Kiss 101.7. In 2007, I moved to LA to further pursue my career. During this time, I faced numerous challenges and even had to drive for Uber starting in 2015 to make ends meet. These experiences taught me the importance of resilience and persistence.
The idea for Pedis & Mimosas came to me while I was hosting a show on Hip-Hop DX Live. I wanted to create a platform that combined the relaxed atmosphere of a spa with the excitement of celebrity interviews. Our show stands out because it allows guests to feel at ease and opens up the opportunity for genuine and candid conversations.
Pedis & Mimosas is more than just a show; it’s an experience. We provide a relaxed and engaging environment where celebrities can open up and share their journeys, insights, and personal stories. Our viewers get to see a different side of their favorite celebrities, fostering a stronger connection between them and their fans.
What sets us apart is our commitment to authenticity and our unique format. We believe that everyone has a story worth telling, and we provide a space where those stories can be shared in a genuine and entertaining way.
I’m particularly proud of the impact we’ve made in the entertainment industry by offering a refreshing and intimate platform for celebrity interviews. For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that Pedis & Mimosas is dedicated to celebrating authenticity, resilience, and the human stories behind the glitz and glamour of the entertainment world.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One pivotal moment in my career came when two key players on my team quit simultaneously. This unexpected turn of events forced me to figure out a whole new route for Pedis & Mimosas. It was an incredibly challenging time, and I had to rethink everything about the show and how we operated.
Initially, it felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. Losing such important team members not only disrupted our workflow but also shook my confidence. However, I knew I couldn’t let this setback stop me. I had to dig deep, tap into my resilience, and find a way to move forward.
This situation ended up changing the entire trajectory of not only the show but also my life. I had to reassess my approach, bring in new talent, and innovate to keep the show running. It was hard—really hard. And to be honest, it’s still hard at times. But looking back, I realize that these challenges were for my betterment and highest good.
The experience taught me valuable lessons about adaptability, leadership, and the importance of having a strong support system. It also reinforced my belief in the power of resilience and persistence. Despite the difficulties, we managed to come out stronger, and the show evolved in ways I hadn’t initially imagined.
In the end, these kinds of setbacks can often be blessings in disguise, pushing you to grow and adapt in ways you might not have otherwise. For anyone facing similar challenges, remember that these obstacles are opportunities for growth and that perseverance will ultimately lead you to success.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that friends and family would be the first to support my endeavors. When I first started Pedis & Mimosas, I assumed my closest circle would rally behind me, offering encouragement, resources, and support. However, this turned out to be far from the truth.
The backstory to this realization is quite eye-opening. When I launched the show, I expected that those who knew me best would be my biggest advocates. I thought they would watch every episode, share my content, and spread the word about my work. But as time went on, I noticed a distinct lack of engagement from many of the people I had counted on.
At first, this was disheartening. I questioned my efforts and wondered if my work was truly worthwhile. It was a tough pill to swallow, but it led to an important epiphany: the people who will support you the most are often those who are outside your immediate circle. Strangers, industry peers, and new connections frequently become your biggest champions.
Unlearning this expectation taught me to broaden my perspective and focus on building a wider network of support. I started to appreciate the value of reaching out beyond my familiar circles, engaging with new audiences, and forming connections with people who genuinely resonate with my vision.
This shift in mindset has been crucial for my growth. It has allowed me to develop a more resilient and inclusive approach to my work. I learned to not take the lack of immediate support personally but instead to seek out and value the support that comes from unexpected places. This lesson has not only strengthened my resolve but also enriched the community around Pedis & Mimosas, making it a more diverse and vibrant platform.
