We were lucky to catch up with Imani Raiyne Moore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Imani Raiyne, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
Kreative Fruitz honestly originated when I was just a seed in my mothers womb! She created a Fruit sculpture for her baby shower for my arrival to the world!! Now, Fast forward to my early childhood a hobby my mother had a passion for, she began to shared with me ,during our health battles with us both being diagnosed with Lupus. We began creating food displays and fruit arrangements for our families events. Until life unfortunately took its turns and flips. This passion that I thought was just a memory was revived fortunately yet unfortunately with the passing of my mother. In efforts to cope and a way of staying connected to my mother I began carving fruits again and the first one being for my dad’s retirement party and from there , The widespread of requests for my unique creativity launched the start of Kreative Fruitz A fresh fruit art catering company that specializes in delivering a Edible fruit art experience for all ages!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Kreative Fruitz by Imani Raiyne began as a way to preserve a cherished bond with my mother. It all started during my early childhood when my mother, who shared a passion for health and creativity, began teaching me how to craft beautiful fruit displays and arrangements. This hobby was more than just fun; it became a therapeutic activity as we both navigated our health journeys with Lupus. When my mother passed away, I turned back to this art form as a way to stay connected to her and heal from the loss. The first fruit art I made after her passing was for my dad’s retirement party, and that moment sparked an outpouring of requests for my work. This led to the birth of Kreative Fruitz, where we specialize in creating fresh, edible fruit art experiences that bring joy and health to people of all ages. What sets us apart is our dedication to using the freshest fruits, promoting ,educating ,and teaching workshops on healthy eating, and transforming ordinary fruits into extraordinary pieces of art that are as delightful to look at as they are to eat.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When my mother passed away, it felt like a part of me had been lost. We had shared so many moments creating fruit art together, and for a while, I couldn’t even think about picking up a carving knife. But in my darkest moments, I realized that this was more than just a hobby; it was a way to keep her memory alive. The first time I carved a fruit again was for my dad’s retirement party, and it was like she was there with me, guiding my hands. The feedback and love I received from that one event gave me the strength to keep going. It wasn’t easy, but each piece I create now feels like a tribute to her and a celebration of the love we shared.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that art should be perfect. In the beginning, I was so focused on making every fruit sculpture flawless that I forgot the joy that comes with creativity. I realized that the beauty of fruit art is in its uniqueness and imperfection—just like in life. It’s the small, unexpected details that make each piece special. Once I embraced this, my work became more authentic, and I connected more deeply with my clients and their lives with teaching them a new way to unleash their creativity and imagination in a fruity way!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I had to pivot my business model significantly. Large gatherings and events were put on hold, and I was faced with the challenge of keeping Kreative Fruitz afloat. I decided to shift focus to smaller, personalized fruit arrangements and virtual fruit art workshops. This pivot not only kept the business running but also opened up new opportunities to reach a broader audience. It was a challenging time, but it taught me the importance of adaptability and the power of innovation.
