We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brigitte Pollio a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Being a freelance photographer is a mission for me because, through photography, I can capture and tell unique and authentic stories. Each shot represents an unrepeatable moment, a lived emotion, or a perspective that deserves to be shared. My mission is to give voice to experiences, the beauty of the world, and the nuances of life that often go unnoticed.
Furthermore, photography allows me to connect with people in a deep and meaningful way. Each encounter with my subjects is an opportunity to explore different cultures, personalities, and worldviews. This not only enriches my work but also my personal life, as I constantly learn from others and their stories.
The mission of capturing the essence of people and places goes beyond merely creating aesthetically pleasing images. I strive to immortalize the soul and heart of what I photograph, conveying emotions and stories that can inspire, move, or make those who view my work reflect. In an increasingly visual world, photography has the power to influence, educate, and raise awareness, and I am committed to using this power in a positive and constructive way.
For me, photography is not just a job but a calling. It is my way of contributing to the world, leaving a mark, and creating a lasting impact through visual art. Hi everyone, I’m Brigitte, a freelance photographer and videographer whose career began at the age of 18. My entry into the photography world came about in an unexpected yet exciting way. I was a frequent visitor at a photo development lab, where I met an established fashion photographer who was searching for an assistant. Driven by my passion for photography, I seized this chance to work with him. He needed assistance, and I was seeking an opportunity.
Being an assistant to a successful fashion photographer allowed me to hone both my technical and artistic skills while appreciating the importance of every detail. This role also taught me how to collaborate with diverse personalities and manage complex projects with professionalism. I take great pride in transforming a youthful passion into a fulfilling career. Each project provides a platform to showcase my creativity and contribute to my clients’ success. My aim is to deliver a service that not only meets but surpasses expectations, and to build meaningful connections with everyone I work with.
I’m particularly proud of how my work blends artistic techniques with cutting-edge technology to craft stories that resonate deeply. Each project is an opportunity to push the boundaries and exceed expectations, which fuels my motivation every day.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn involved the way some people, who believe they have reached a certain level, tend to behave in a rude and arrogant manner. In an environment where success seems to be measured by detached or pretentious behavior, I found out, often the hard way, that respect and courtesy could be ignored or undervalued.
Throughout my journey, I encountered individuals who, having achieved a certain status, seemed to believe that their position justified treating others with disdain or lack of consideration. This approach, often manifested through contempt and disregard, initially affected me. I thought that in order to be accepted or to gain the recognition I desired, I needed to adapt to these attitudes.
However, I had to unlearn this toxic behavior and embrace an approach rooted in genuine respect and empathetic communication. I realized that true success is not measured by a pretentious attitude but by the ability to treat others with dignity and to build relationships based on authentic values.
Far removed from these rude and arrogant ways, I chose to maintain a humble and open demeanor and to adopt a work ethic that values inclusion and mutual support. This lesson taught me that true greatness is reflected in our ability to uplift and inspire others, rather than in our desire to demonstrate superiority.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
To manage a team and maintain high morale, it is essential to adopt an approach that goes beyond traditional practices and embraces more sophisticated and mindful strategies. A fundamental aspect is creating an environment where transparency and vulnerability are welcomed and celebrated. When leaders show their authenticity and share not only triumphs but also challenges and uncertainties, it establishes a climate of trust that encourages team members to do the same. This fosters open communication and helps build a culture where everyone feels more engaged and inspired.
Moreover, it’s important to recognize that motivation is personal and varies from individual to individual. Tailoring recognition and feedback strategies to each person’s specific needs and preferences can make a significant difference. Some might find joy in public recognition, while others may appreciate personal appreciation or the opportunity to work on a project they are passionate about.
Another key factor is adopting a holistic view of team well-being. This means not only monitoring work-life balance but also encouraging practices that promote mental and emotional health. Creating spaces for reflection and mindfulness or adopting flexible work policies helps build an environment where team members can thrive not just as professionals but also as individuals.
By embracing these sophisticated approaches, it is possible not only to maintain high team morale but also to develop a deeply meaningful and rewarding work culture.
