We recently connected with Mercedes Blanche and have shared our conversation below.
Mercedes, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
You know, as an actress/social media personality, my life is filled with a lot of excitement, unpredictability, and creative energy. It’s a life I love, but every now and then, I find myself wondering what it would be like to have a “regular” job. This thought usually sneaks up on me during those rare moments of downtime or when I feel burntout when the hustle and bustle of the industry quiets down and I have a chance to breathe and reflect.
The last time I had this thought was actually not too long ago. I was on set for a long day of filming, one of those days where the schedule was tight, and everything needed to be perfect. It was exhausting, both mentally and physically. Between takes, as I sat in my chair, I found myself staring at the costume rack and the scripts scattered around. I felt a wave of fatigue wash over me, and for a moment, I let my mind wander.
I imagined a life where I had a 9-to-5 job, something with stability and predictability. Maybe a teacher. I would have love to be a teacher in another life.
It was a comforting thought. But as I sat there, I also felt a pang of sadness. The imagined scene was missing something crucial—passion. Acting and creating for all its ups and downs, is where I find my deepest joy. The thrill of bringing a character to life, the challenge of exploring different facets of human emotion, and the opportunity to connect with audiences on such a profound level—it’s irreplaceable.
As the daydream faded, I realized that while a regular job might offer a sense of security, it wouldn’t fulfill me in the same way that acting does. The creative chaos, the emotional rollercoaster, and the unpredictability of this career are all part of what makes it so exhilarating. In the end, the thought of trading it all for something more conventional felt like giving up a piece of my soul.
So, while I might occasionally daydream about a more predictable life, I always come back to the same conclusion: I’m happiest as an actress. It’s not always easy, but it’s a path that aligns with who I am and what I want to contribute to the world. The insights I gain from these moments of contemplation only reinforce my passion for what I do, reminding me that the struggles are worth it for the chance to live out my dreams.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello everyone! I’m Mercedes Blanche, an actress, content creator, and advocate for adoption and mental health. For those who may not know me, I began my journey in the entertainment industry with a passion for storytelling and a love for performing. Growing up, I was always drawn to the arts, whether it was acting, dancing, or singing. The stage and screen felt like a natural home for me, a place where I could express myself and connect with others in a meaningful way.
My career in the industry started with small roles in independent films and theater productions. Over time, I worked my way up, gaining experience and learning from every project I took on. My big break came when I landed a feature role in a popular TV series The Boys, which opened many doors for me. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of projects, from drama and comedy to more experimental and stunt pieces.
In addition to acting, I also create content that resonates with my followers, focusing on themes like self-love, confidence, and authenticity. I believe that art has the power to heal and inspire, and I aim to bring that energy into everything I do. Whether it’s through a heartfelt performance, a thoughtful social media post, or a candid interview, my goal is to uplift and empower others.
What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and my willingness to be vulnerable. In an industry that often values perfection, I pride myself on being real and relatable. I don’t shy away from discussing the challenges and struggles I’ve faced, whether it’s dealing with rejection, overcoming insecurities, or managing the pressures of a public life. I believe that by being honest about my journey, I can help others navigate their own paths with courage and confidence.
Im most proud of the upcoming book I am writing which is actually exactly what I stand up for. The messages I receive from people who feel inspired or empowered by something I’ve said or done mean the world to me. Knowing that I’ve made a difference in someone’s life, even in a small way, is incredibly fulfilling.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I really thought they were going somewhere around 2020 when the hype was huge.
Now I think it is just another way to scam people.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I would have taken short films and indie non paid gigs more seriously when I built up my career.
Something I regret is not to submit myself to more short movies just for the exposure and building resume part.
People really sleep on it whom just entered acting industry.
