We were lucky to catch up with Rebekah Greene recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rebekah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Am I happy as a business owner? Absolutely I am. I take great pride in the circumstances and consequence of hard work, dedication, and advocacy that has lead me to be able to maintain an Art Company that provides opportunity for others, no matter their background, no matter their age, a virtual network of like minded individuals with a shared passion to have a better world.
Each day I wake up with the beautiful ability to connect with the world around me through art. Though I would like to make a point, the idea of only pursuing this because it makes me happy is false.
I do what I do everyday, and push others who share in their passions, because life without meaning is nothing. Through creativity so many people, of all ages, find meaning in life. It is not about making money, it is not about being famous, it is about connection.
Art is the one thing that can connect all of us, and I don’t think I could possibly be fully satisfied in any other career field. The responsibilities, and knowledge, that one must obtain in order to have a truly meaningful business are what drive me as an entrepreneur.
I hope to learn all that this world has to offer through art, through connecting with others, and in that my greatest accomplishment would be for others to take that opportunity within their circumstances of life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a graffiti artist, graphic designer, CEO, Ring-Ring,Hello? Podcast host, and most importantly a person.
I am a survivor, and an advocate. It is my duty as founder of OmniCreations, LLC to showcase through entrepreneurship the potential one can have; who has risen from horrible experiences with kindness and justice.
Our website showcases artisan features, who are local artists from the Virginia area hired as independent contractors. When joining our collective one can expect to be embraced for their niche, and welcomed into a community of likeminded artisans with a passion for positive change.
We are a collective of carefully curated Virginia artists with a shared mission to curate a more caring reality for all.
So I would say, what sets us apart from others – is our unique capacity for unity with diversity, while maintaining a professional environment that encourages healing, career growth, and personal development in skills that last a life time.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
There is a vast variety of skills that have helped me build my reputation within my market. The first is perspective.
Having the capacity to reflect introspectively while maintaining self-respect and dignity is a necessity for success. What I mean by this, is in moments that are frustrating whether by circumstances within our control or not, we must have the ability to recognize within 3 variables of perspective. ‘Will this effect me in 5 minutes if I allow it to?’, ‘Will this effect me tomorrow if I allow it to?’, ‘Will this effect me in 5 years if I allow it to?’. Taking note of the immediate consequence of action, the near future consequence of action, and the long term consequence of action.
From a more direct insertion into the market point- what has helped me build my reputation with others is consistency, and self-respect. A large portion of my time is dedicated to 1 to 1 networking through various social media platforms. This ideology that has come around that ‘social media is fake’ truly is ridiculous to me, respectfully. Everyday I interact with real women dedicated to changing their lives for the better. Whether that’s through fashion content creation on YouTube, or by doing weekly yoga livestreams on TikTok. There is so much more that these platforms have to offer, so much more that people all over the world have to offer. It is up to the viewer to decide what it is they seek. There are so many ways to connect with brands, and other entrepreneurs without having to spend any money. We have become entranced with the idea that we need to constantly be at competition with one another – which I aim to prove incorrect, through consistency & advocacy in artisanship.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I would say truly no matter how known you are – we are all building more and more everyday. My advice to one who is just starting to build their social media presence is STAY CONSISTENT WITH YOURSELF FIRST.
While it may come across as not a very physically taxing job, social media management takes a great deal of analytical skills, and behavioral skill. In order to understand another we must be able to understand ourself.
If you can stay consistent with yourself – you can build a business.
