M. R., thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Becoming an author definitely takes a learning curve and it just so happens that the curve is a circle. There hasn’t been a single moment in my journey that there wasn’t something new to learn. Between watching countless YouTube videos on writing a novel, tictoks tips and tricks, and listening to various podcasts I built my knowledge up. Looking back I believe I have done this in the quickest and most efficient way I possibly could. However, the skills that are most essential cannot be found on the internet. It is in my opinion that the greatest asset for any author is to have an imagination that refuses to relent and a fiery passion for storytelling.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a mother of two who has traveled the US working as a nurse and enjoying a life of adventure as a military spouse. It is thanks to him and my little sister that I gained the courage to enter my craft. They reminded me that writing is something that I have always done and it’s time to share my stories with the world.
My husband and I are middle school sweethearts, so I guess you can say I’ve always been a romantic at heart. I took that part of me and mixed it with my love for the dark and macabre to create Dark Paranormal Romance stories.
What I would like current and future fans to know about my work is that for me writing in the “Dark” subgenre I take care not to romanticize toxic relationships, instead I utilize this subgenre to show case the negative aspects of the human experience that most individuals keep close to their chest.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I can’t speak for all creatives, but for independent authors like myself there are a few things that people can do to support us. I would encourage all readers to interact with author’s social media pages, buy their books, request their books at your local library, read and review their books, spread the word, suggest them for book clubs, and encourage others to read it if you enjoyed the story. All of these things are an authors life blood and without it we risk having to stop writing completely.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the many ironic things about living life as a military family is that PCS season usually comes at the most inconvenient time. My family was no exception to this generally universal truth. We had found out that our PCS was happening at the same exact time I was scheduled to send my book to be formatted, get my ISBN, and launch the book for preorder. While moving halfway across the country I had to manage all of this simultaneously with everything that comes with moving. It was one of the most challenging and stressful things to accomplish.
