Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Phaedra D’Ambrosio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Phaedra, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

Simple Celebration began organically. My goal was to celebrate life and live a more simplified lifestyle. The challange began when I wanted to honoring the upcoming holidays and seasonal changes without clutter.

Knowing I had very little storage in my new bungalow home, I thought, what if I decorated a tiered tray for the season and holiday rather than my entire home? Neighbors and friends saw my concept and immediately started selecting items off of my tray and requesting that i design a unique tray that matched their personality.

Phaedra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Simple Celebration is a way to enjoy the holidays, season, or special event with ideas that comes from the heart. No need to waste precious time along with the hassle of storing decorations. My team and I will create small scaled fun yet functional-tiered tray, perfect for your favorite celebration! Why not enjoy your event, honor those memories, fill your tray with all the love and charm, but without the chaos and clutter that party decorating brings. Our trays are perfect any nook in your apartment or home. They can be designed by us created by you! Whether your starting over again, or first time new apartment the holiday’s will be celebrated in a simple style.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?

As interests in my tray designs grew, friends suggested that I open up a vendor spot in a local boutique. When I approached the boutique owner and began to describe the concept of whimsical holiday trays, she immediately turned me down, stating that “its been done”. Knowing that my home sales kept increasing and storge of my inventory was also growing I pushed on. I explained the concept isn’t farmhouse designs only, my concept is for all holidays, seasons and other celebratory events. I specialized in helping folks that traveled during the holidays who didn’t want to return home and while exhausted from travel now needed to break down the holiday just to set up for the next one. I encourage her to think about college apartments, dorms, and that my small designs were even catching on in some independent living eldery apartments. I insisted she take a second look. She agreed, rented me a small space, with a 1 year lease, and said, “We’ll see how it goes”. 3 years later, I am opening up my 3rd location!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

After the second year in business I was laid off from my full-time career. I made the decision not to go back to corporate America and to pursue my passion for tiny decorating full time.

After all there is always a reason, or season to celebrate life more simply!
