We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anthoney Charaman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Anthoney, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned to do what I do by putting myself in spaces where people were already doing what I wanted to do and they were doing it better than me. Another thing that helps too is having the confidence to put yourself out there even if you don’t have all the knowledge or experience. I can’t think of anything I could have done differently to speed up the process. It’s all in God’s timing. Skills I think that were most essential to me was my eagerness to learn new things, listening twice as much as I spoke, and my ability to adapt to different environments. I don’t think there were any obstacles standing in the way of me learning more.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a musician, music producer, singer, songwriter, and audio engineer. I have been a musician since I was a child and music has been my first love ever since. My job is basically to help other artists bring their visions to life. Some projects might need different solutions from others, so I might have to wear different hats. It just depends. I think what sets me apart from others is that I can do every part of the song myself, which means I can be a team player and fill whatever the void is. I’m most proud of being able to create and help others create soundscapes and whole worlds for the listener.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have to create music as much as I have to breathe. It’s that simple.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During COVID, some studios and workspaces took a loss and some of them shut down completely, so I had to make the pivot to doing virtual sessions and sending things back and forth a lot more. Also, I decided to invest in a portable studio setup at this point.
