We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tspokes . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tspokes below.
Tspokes , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
When I got selected to be apart of the Ginaverse cypher on Sway. I only had a days notice, and I was scheduled to go to work that next morning. I knew I couldn’t call off so I just decided not to go and I went to Siriusxm instead. To this day I don’t regret it. Jobs treat their employees as if they’re disposable . They’ll find someone new tomorrow but an opportunity as big as rapping in front of Sway comes once in a lifetime. I had to take that risk and go. After the cypher I ended building great rapport with Sway and eventually got featured in an article on SwaysUniverse. The first of many articles to be exact.

Tspokes , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tspokes. I always loved music since I was a child. I was blessed with the talent of rapping. No one ever introduced it to me or taught me how to rap. I didn’t begin recording my music until 2017/2018 after I graduated high school. Before then I would record voice memos on my phone over my favorite instrumentals. Once I was introduced to my first manager he took me to the studio and had me record. Ever since then I’ve been recording my music. A couple years later I met my current manager DavD who has helped me with my career tremendously.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience by being consistent. Being an artist consistency is key. We live in a generation where everyone has a short attention span. In order to grasp your desired audiences attention you have to stay in front of them or else they’ll forget about you. I dropped a freestyle every Tuesday and once I saw people were tuned in I decided to start dropping music.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Non creatives don’t realize that the smallest amount of support goes a long way. Being an independent artist comes with a lot so simply sharing and supporting the content means a lot. Also, it comes with a lot of sacrifices. As an artist you have to be all in when it comes to your craft. A lot of opportunities in this field come with little to no time to prepare so it’s mandatory that you stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.
