Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vie Oneiro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Vie, thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
If I had the chance to, I would’ve placed more focus on creating music on a serious scale sooner. I very much viewed it as a part of myself and not something I “did” which I’m sure took from the discipline it deserved. I wrote and performed for fun, losing all interest when it was time to capitalize from it. I feel more driven to create on a professional level now, but I wish it had always been so.
Vie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a songwriter and performer living in Miami, FL. I sing, rap, and play guitar, and while my work spans different genres, I’ve found a home in the Miami Hip-Hop scene. I’m currently working on an album with fellow Miami artist and producer, Mystix, and collaborating with other artists in the scene. I want to create music that people can relate to and grow with.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I battled alcoholism for years and am proud to say I am currently just over 6 years sober. Being an alcoholic for most of my youth and early 20s has been the biggest hurdle in my life and one I am most proud of overcoming. Sobriety has helped me confront many demons I was nursing and in turn, I can now better understand where my mental health falters. My life has done a complete 180 and I am now accomplishing things I felt were a distant hope.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist has been the catharsis creating provides. Once I get everything I’m feeling or thinking down in a song or project, it feels like a piece of the burden is being released. Another aspect I love is when people connect to my work and feel seen. Many artists have made me feel this way with their music, so it feels amazing when someone tells me my art has touched them in similar ways.
