We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandon Denison a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
February 15th, 2014. Perform Better Seminar; Austin, Texas. Nick Winkelman (then Director of Performance Education for EXOS) gave a presentation about speed development for elite athletes, and from there I realized I didn’t just want to be a personal trainer, I wanted to become a strength & conditioning coach.
Changed my collegiate course direction at the University of Houston from Nutrition to double-major in Nutrition and Exercise Science (was already a Kinesiology Minor, and since I only needed one more semester to earn 2 degrees, I figured why not).

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I specialize in sports performance training for high school baseball and softball athletes. I also am opening a personal training school as an educational partner with NASM, where I’ll be teaching the CPT, PES, and CES certification courses in-person in the next couple months.
Since 2013, I’ve worked with a variety of clientele, from ages 7 all the way to 90 in several areas, including sports performance, physical therapy, and your 9-5 population that I like to call the “corporate athlete”.
I could say I’m proud of the athletes I’ve worked with in the past, such as my collegiate athletes that have gone on to play professionally, and those that have won a Super Bowl, but every client has their own wins that I’m very proud of.
– My high school lacrosse player who had a team seek her out to play in Ohio
– The business professional who started fitting into her clothes back from high school
– An Army veteran who served multiple tours in the Middle East can now move his shoulder without pain
Just to name a few.
I’m someone who inspires others, and helps them realize their true potential both physically and mentally. My goal is to help you become the version of yourself that you’ve been wanting to, but didn’t have the right “compass” if you will. I’m here as your guide, and will help you every step of the way.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
January 31st, 2009. Motorcycle wreck.
I was coming home from College Station and ended up hitting the back of a truck. Multiple injuries from cracked vertebrae in my upper thoracic region, ruptured spleen, both forearms, wrists and hands broken, and a compound fracture of my right femur.
This was an event that should’ve taken my life. The doctors credited my survival with being in such great shape, but I firmly believe God kept me alive because I have more people to help here on Earth. My goal is to help a billion people, so I know I’ve got more work to do, and I couldn’t be happier that I’m in a profession that I get to pursue that

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I had to go back and do it all over again, I’d probably do everything the same. Everything that’s ever happened in my life both good and bad has helped develop me into a better person every day.
If I absolutely, positively had to pick a different route, I would’ve graduated high school early and gone to the US Naval Academy where I would learn to become a fighter pilot.
