We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sade Prisila Preciado Leon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sade Prisila below.
Sade Prisila, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I think artistry has saved my life. Nothing has been more fulfilling than discovering who I am from through art, I believe art goes hand in hand with love, sex, music, creativity. I remember always feeling like I wanted to do more, live more, feel more. I lived with a void in me everyday growing wider and wider, I wanted to feel something that would sustain me, move me, made me feel electric. I started to lean into artistry at a young age with drawing, painting, crafts, I’m a kid at this moment so of course I felt a great need to express myself, but as I got older, I realized I wanted to feel more, I wanted to experience more, and artistry really fueled me, it made me feel like I had found the spark to who I was. I wasn’t trying to prove anything, I wasn’t competing with anyone, I was being the most authentic version of myself. I felt found. There is never a moment in this short life where I will allow myself to be in a space where I cannot authentically be myself. There is not any amount of wealth in the world that I could ever dream of giving up being a artist for the mundane. I love love, art, and sex far too much to give it any of it up.

Sade Prisila, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a makeup artist.
I have always expressed myself through makeup.
I love to bring visual fantasies to life, let me explain before I get to ahead of myself haha
I am heavily inspired by music and fashion. I look at Mugler runway shows, 95′, 96′,
I want to be transported back there and live the fantasy.
So I definitely feel as though my inspirations are attention grabbing and my looks are a a visual expression of that.
I am proud of the audience I have built from my art but even prouder of the community I have been surrounded with. Artists have always been known to take the leap on speaking and bringing awareness to political issues, I am thankful that though my platform is small, I am doing my part of shedding light on the changes we need in the world as well. We need more community, more kindness, more acceptance.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For most of my creative journey, I have always felt the need for acceptance and validation from others. I think when you grow up a little lonelier than most, you want to prove yourself to others, you want to be “good” at something, so that people will like you. I felt like acceptance was important but at times, it over shadowed the fun of simply creating because I enjoyed it. I learned down the line that I am worthy regardless of how many likes, or approval or the validation of anyone but myself. I am so happy when I create, I find validation in my efforts and success and the fact that I feel good about myself. I create for me.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social Media is such a wild, wild west out here!
Most want a platform, most should ask themselves “Why?” first.
You should build authentically. Post the photo, post the videos, post the drafts you want to redo!
You never know where your life could go because of one post!
Have fun and see how people genuinely gravitate towards you.
Having a platform means having a amplified voice.
Use your platform to bring good to you and your community.
Amplify the change we need, the flashy life is so temporary.
