Dkendra , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
At Dream Fabulash, our mission is to become the first Black-owned lash distributor in Houston. As a lash tech or artist, having the right supplies is crucial to your success. I understand the challenges of starting out and the areas where support can make all the difference. That’s why we are committed to being an affordable and supportive resource within our lash community.
We know that supplies can be costly, depending on where you shop. Our goal is not just to provide affordability but also to offer assistance in every step of your lash journey. For those looking to start their own brand, we want to help bring your vision to life.
We also understand the frustration of needing supplies the same day and having to drive across town, cutting into your work time. Ordering products like lash extensions, primer, and adhesive from overseas can be time-consuming. Dream Fabulash aims to be your local and convenient source for all lash industry needs.

Dkendra , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend, and with all those hats, I am a full-time entrepreneur! I started Dream Fabulash in February of 2018. The beauty industry has always been my first love. I am passionate about the transformation and the beauty that women feel when they have completed getting all “dolled up.” I love seeing the beautiful faces and smiles, which brings me joy beyond measure. I’ve created my own lash line which includes lash extensions, adhesive, lash remover, primer, and bonder. I have products that my clients love and approve of. I enjoy beautifying my clients’ lashes because I feel that it boosts their confidence in a magical way. From the moment they lay back into the chair, until the end of the service when they look in the mirror and think, “Yes, I’m that girl!” I look forward to those moments!
I set myself apart from others in the industry by creating a unique atmosphere in my suite and business. No matter what my clients face in their daily lives, when they come to me, they know I have my gospel playlist going and have already prayed for God’s presence in the room before they enter. It’s a place of relaxation and peace. Yes, we have our lash therapy time, but I love that they are comfortable in my space and always ask for my playlist! I have the best clients in the world—they are for me, and I’m for them, and that’s a known fact!
Regardless of what life has looked like—whether I’ve had to slow down in the business or stop serving clients—I never gave up! I’ve switched things up a few times, but I’ve remained relentless because this has to go forth. I didn’t initially pursue lashes. I went to school for cosmetology and God gave me lashes; I have run with it ever since. I will finish the race regardless of what life throws at me. I’m proud of all my accomplishments, even though I have yet to celebrate them. I’m grateful I’m still going. You’ll know when it’s time to celebrate all of the achievements!
Sometimes we look at our journeys and wonder why we aren’t there yet. I’ve learned that it’s not a race. Becoming an entrepreneur is not a cakewalk. No one sees the behind-the-scenes—the days you want to just quit, going through the ups and downs, the slowdown of business, being a mom and wife. It’s not going the way I planned, but God gave me this business! I didn’t know it was a passion of mine. I didn’t know I would turn my passion into purpose. I didn’t know character would be built. I didn’t know I would grow differently from others. I didn’t know I would be anointed. I didn’t know I would bloom like a flower of pure beauty.
Looking at my five years, I’m truly grateful for all the highs and lows. I’m thankful God kept pushing me even when I didn’t want to move. I’m thankful I’m not moving in my own strength. I’m thankful God chose me for the job. I’m thankful God built and is building me for this. Even though it gets heavy, I stand trusting and believing in God. I’m not strong enough to depend on myself. I need Him to take the right steps. I need Him to bring me comfort in times of struggle. I need Him because His peace surpasses all understanding. I see BIGGER THINGS for my life and business! What may be impossible for me isn’t impossible for God. My prayer is for God to allow me to keep thinking so much BIGGER that it scares me. God, help me show up wherever you need me. God, help me to keep moving in my purpose and into my destiny.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience is what defines my journey. There have been moments when life demanded that I slow down or even stop serving clients. Yet, through every challenge, I never gave up. I adapted, switched things up, and remained relentless because I believed in the vision God gave me. Initially, I pursued cosmetology, but God led me to lashes, and I embraced it wholeheartedly. I am committed to finishing the race no matter what obstacles come my way.
Every setback has been a setup for a comeback. My resilience is a testament to the belief that anything is possible with faith and perseverance. Dream Fabulash is more than a business—it’s a testament to the power of never giving up, trusting the process, and believing in something greater.

In business, adaptability is key. Since starting Dream Fabulash, I’ve learned that sometimes the path you envision isn’t the one you end up taking. Initially, I pursued other occupations, but God led me to lashes, and I embraced it. This journey has required me to pivot numerous times, but each turn has strengthened my resilience and commitment to my vision.
Pivoting isn’t always easy, but it’s often essential. It means recognizing when something isn’t working and being brave enough to change course. It’s about staying true to your vision while being flexible in your methods. For me, this has meant creating a supportive community, offering high-quality products that my clients love, and continuously seeking ways to improve and expand Dream Fabulash.
God has been my guide through every pivot, providing the strength and direction needed to navigate challenges. Each change has been an opportunity to grow, learn, and better serve my clients. I’m committed to finishing the race, no matter what obstacles come my way.
