Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Deidre Ferenc. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Deidre, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I feel very fortunate that my parents set a healthy example for my siblings and I when we were kids. Both of my parents worked out regularly and made it a point to talk to us about good nutrition. We had treats and sweets on occasions, but the importance of fruits and veggies and fueling our body with good foods was a frequent conversation at the dinner table. My mom would even make up songs about eating our veggies, she made it fun! I was also exposed to the gym environment starting at around 10 years old and it has made it so that I have never been intimidated by gyms or working out. I am so grateful for the example my parents set and have tried to do the same for my children.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am someone that has worked out since my childhood, but as I got to my 40s, being “fit” just wasn’t that easy anymore. It seemed like no matter how little I ate and hard or often I worked out my body was changing in ways I did not like. I was also low on energy, sleeping poorly and feeling extremely frustrated and like my body was broken.
Right after my 40th birthday, I was introduced to a digital nutrition and fitness program by one of my college girlfriends. She was telling me how she was eating so much food and working out less yet fat was melting off of her body. She also felt good, had more energy, was sleeping great and was more even tempered. As my 40th birthday gift to myself I decided to try the 6-week program and my life (and health) was forever changed!
After being a client in the program for several months I decided to go through the coaching certification because I knew there were so many women that needed this program, just like I did. I wanted to show them that they didn’t need to be starving themselves, working out 6-7 days a week, wrecking havoc on their hormones and metabolism and sabotaging their health to be fit, there really was healthier, sustainable and more enjoyable way.
There are a lot of ways to lose weight out there, but very few of them will better your health at the same time, my program does! And as a cancer survivor I know there is nothing more important than your health.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was in incredible shape, so healthy and strong, so to say I was shocked would be an understatement. I was heartbroken, I was scared and I was even little angry. Here I was living such a healthy lifestyle and I got cancer, but…… my lifestyle and my heath coaching helped me thrive during treatment. I had multiple surgeries and went through chemotherapy but I kept on living. If I had not gone into my diagnosis in the best shape of my life, physically and mentally, my recovery from those surgeries and chemo would have probably been much slower. I crushed cancer because of my healthy lifestyle

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn (and now I try to help other women unlearn) is that the scale is the best way to measure your progress on your health/fat loss journey. I used to give the scale so much power, but now I focus on non-scale victories because those are the things that will change our life. Breaking up with my scale is the best break up I’ve ever had!!!
