We were lucky to catch up with Veronica Russell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Veronica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How do you think about vacations as a business owner? Do you take them and if so, how? If you don’t, why not?
Make sure to always make time to reset. It’s has been a big part of my journey and I feel it is necessary so you are able to fully give your best at everything thing you do.

Veronica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I love the art of braiding. I remember the first time I met my husband he had some beautiful intricate Braids. When I made the decision to teach myself I found I truly loved the art. How you can make some so beautiful and creative with just hair! As time went on I talked to my brother and told him I wanted to make it a business and I wanted to go all the way with it and see what I can do. But first I needed a name that’s where my brands name came from Twisted Kreationz. Building from the ground up not knowing what I was doing I was learning as I was going. What was once just a conversation was now becoming reality but with anything that is worth doing it has its challenges. These challenges have made me who I am today from the working for free to get repetition and learning really quick not all hair takes the same products to the criticism in the doubters, I continued moving forward with the support of my family. I take what I do very serious. It’s my passion. I’m willing to do the work when nobody else feels that it’s worth it. I always felt that it’s not always about the money but more about the experience of being able to have the opportunity to meet different people and have different conversations, and really get to know someone. You really don’t know how much you change somebody’s life or what someone could be going through. My drive to be the best of me is undeniable I have been blessed to work with many people that have had a major influence on my career.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first started braiding I was offering services for free and it would take me hours to complete. As time when on I charged five dollars and went up as I felt it was worth more. Of course with that people stopped coming to me and I got new clients and when I raised the price again I lost more but I never stopped. I kept going and I have been blessed with good people good clients people that know my worth and never question it.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn to be more optimistic and to see the glass half full regardless of the situation. There is always something good in everything even the bad.
