Hi Yazmin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry

One of the biggest trends in my industry, just like in many others, is the rise of DIY TikTok videos. While there’s nothing wrong with doing it yourself, when it comes to cleaning, this can actually be harmful. Many influencers are sharing their cleaning “sauces,” which are mixes of different cleaning agents that are often not meant to be combined. They might also use the wrong products for cleaning, such as using fabric softener to remove dust.

Yazmin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m Yazmin Lopez, the CEO of Katharisma Cleaning. We offer cleaning services to families, busy entrepreneurs, and businesses.

I started this business kind of by accident. My dad, who’s always been an entrepreneur, wanted to start a family cleaning business. But at the time, I was about to have my second child, and we didn’t really know how to run a business in the USA, even though we’d been here for about ten years. I wanted to go to school and get prepared first.

After my second child was born, friends who knew I was good at cleaning started asking for help with organizing, cleaning, running errands, and so on. Thanks to their referrals, I landed a big contract to clean a building. That’s when I decided to go full-time into the business. My husband, who’s more into the business side of things, helped a lot, and together we decided to grow Katharisma Cleaning.

One of our biggest challenges has been getting people to recognize how essential cleaning services are, especially after seeing how crucial they were during COVID. Another challenge is finding reliable, experienced cleaners who can offer quality service and be flexible with our clients’ schedules.

We love what we do and are committed to providing the best cleaning services to make our clients’ lives easier.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

One of the things I had to unlearn is time management and not working 24/7. Although I often preach about delegating tasks, I’m an “all do it all” girl. However, in a business environment, this is not possible. You need a team and all the help you can get.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

On social media, I try to show my business personality, which is fun but also informative. I showcase what our business offers, what we can do for our clients, and our reviews. I also like to make silly videos and engage with others online. That’s how I found my business coach. Like other millennials, social media and the internet are a huge part of my life, and that’s how I connect with others. Of course, I’m always available for coffee—I love to network!
