We recently connected with Jarmel McClary and have shared our conversation below.
Jarmel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
If I was starting over today, I would do my research more before just jumping into the fashion industry. I would’ve went overseas to get all my clothing made from the beginning instead of cricut machine
Jarmel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Jarmel McClary, the owner of the Streetwear brand Vintage Death. I carry hoodies, shirts, hats & socks. I carry pretty much anything clothes wise you can think of. My brand is built of expressing your emotion through your clothes instead of your words.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I started my business with my check from dollar tree when I was a manager. I was investing in blank shirts every week until I had about 50 to make with my cricut machine.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
My favorite marking be when a rapper, professional athlete or famous celebrity post with my clothes. I’m my favorite one though is with Anti Da Menace
