We were lucky to catch up with Neysa Porter recently and have shared our conversation below.
Neysa, appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Coded Creatives came to me during my junior year of college. At that time, I was pursuing a major in Business Marketing to strategically position myself in the job market upon graduation. However, my lifelong passion for artistry and creation compelled me to hold onto it. Knowing that the world is rapidly evolving into a technology-driven environment, I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of technology while also utilizing my imagination and creativity to explore its possibilities. This led me to pursue a minor in web design, where I could learn professional methods for creating websites, animations, and digital drawings. I’ve always believed that marketing and technology are intrinsically linked, and I wanted to create a business that exemplifies this synergy. Coded Creatives is my way of being versatile in both fields, offering comprehensive solutions that go beyond traditional boundaries. I am deeply motivated and firmly believe that there is nothing I can’t achieve. What sets Coded Creatives apart is my ability to think outside the box. I have a diverse skill set that extends far beyond what you might expect from a typical graphic designer. This versatility means I can’t be pigeonholed into one category. I bring a fresh perspective and a broad range of expertise to every project, ensuring unique and effective solutions for my clients.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Neysa Porter, founder of Coded Creatives, a small business specializing in websites and graphics. Born and raised in Philadelphia, I have always been fascinated by marketing and technology. This led me to create Coded Creatives, where I combine these fields to offer powerful business solutions. I’m also pursuing a master’s degree in computer information technology at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering, which enhances my technical expertise.

We address the challenge of standing out in a crowded digital marketplace by creating cohesive, engaging online presences that truly represent our clients’ brands. Our versatility and innovative thinking set us apart, combining technical expertise and marketing acumen to deliver unique, effective solutions.
I am proud of the positive impact we’ve had on our clients’ businesses. Seeing them succeed because of our work is immensely rewarding. At Coded Creatives, we are dedicated to excellence, creating solutions that drive results and exceed expectations. My passion for what I do is reflected in every project, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in marketing and design.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is having the freedom of expression. Collaborating with other artists and blending our creativity is incredibly fulfilling. Seeing the positive outcomes of our work and the satisfaction it brings to clients reaffirms the value of our creative process. It’s this combination of individual expression, teamwork, and delivering results that makes being a creative so rewarding.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Creating comes from the heart, and many people get discouraged about how to step into the design community, but it’s actually quite easy. Be yourself—there is no one else like you, literally no one. There may be people with more experience and incredible designs, and it might seem impossible to reach their level, but don’t let another creative’s success discourage you. Find your niche and make it your own. There are countless valuable resources to help improve your work. YouTube offers endless tutorials, while platforms like Coursera and LinkedIn provide courses packed with tips, techniques, and skills that you can apply. These resources are usually low cost or free and they will be incredibly helpful in enhancing your abilities and boosting your confidence in the design field.
