Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shannon Pruitt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Shannon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I had just become a mom and was running on a mix of joy, adrenaline, and sheer exhaustion. Despite the chaos, I desperately missed the thrill of entrepreneurship. A few months earlier, I had closed my wedding planning business, leaving me feeling a bit lost as I navigated my full-time job and new role as a mom.
Balancing a full-time job while figuring out how to keep a tiny human alive is no joke. And I needed something that offered more freedom and flexibility, something that didn’t make me choose between being a present mom and a passionate businesswoman. Enter: Sunday Muse Design.
Starting a new business as a sleep-deprived new mom? Definitely a risk. Financial stability was more of a concept than a reality, and the fear of failing was a constant, unwelcome companion. But the desire to create, to build something that allowed me to be both a mom and an entrepreneur, was stronger.
Three months in, juggling baby naps and client calls, I decided to go all in. I quit my job and took the leap into running Sunday Muse Design full-time. Scary? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.
Now, Sunday Muse Design is flourishing. I have the freedom to be there for all the little moments with my child while helping other entrepreneurs, small businesses, and creatives bring their visions to life. It’s been a wild ride with plenty of late nights and hurdles, but the reward of seeing my business grow and my clients succeed makes it all worthwhile. Sometimes, you’ve just got to take that leap and trust that you’ll land on your feet.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Shannon, and I’m the founder and creative brains behind this boutique agency that serves entrepreneurs and creatives.
My path into the world of brand strategy and web design was anything but linear. I’ve always had a passion for creativity and storytelling, but it wasn’t until I found myself balancing the demands of a new baby and a full-time job that I realized I needed a change. I wanted to blend my love for design with a career that offered the flexibility to be present for my family. And that’s how Sunday Muse Design was born.
We offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our main offerings include brand and website strategy, brand identity, website design, and SEO services.
There are so many other brand and web designers out there. We provide a full-service, one-on-one approach, ensuring that every client gets the attention and tailored strategy they deserve. We’re not just about making things look pretty; we focus on creating strategic, visually stunning solutions that drive real results. Plus, we’re all about empowering entrepreneurs and creatives, helping them steward their time, talent, treasure, and story effectively.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the flexibility and freedom we’ve been able to offer our clients – and myself. Seeing my business grow while being able to savor time with my child is incredibly rewarding. And I love seeing my clients experience relief as we take some projects off their hands… and that relief allwos them to be able to spend time doing what they love. Our clients range from wedding industry professionals and interior designers to photographers and business coaches, and it’s amazing to see their businesses thrive with our support.
If there’s one thing I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know, it’s that at Sunday Muse Design, we’re here to make brand and web design accessible and efficient. We aim to take the stress out of the process so you can focus on what you do best. And we do it all with a blend of strategy, creativity, and a touch of sophistication.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Keeping in touch with clients and fostering brand loyalty is incredibly important to me. I’m all about creating meaningful connections and providing exceptional value every step of the way. Here’s a little peek at how I do it:
From the very first interaction, I prioritize personalized communication. Whether it’s through emails, calls, or video chats, I try make sure our clients feel seen, heard, and valued. We keep them in the loop throughout the entire design process, providing updates and seeking feedback to ensure their vision is brought to life. I’m a BIG fan of sending a prerecorded video so our clients can watch our explanations on their own time. We also have a private link for our clients to book a call with us if they need something in real-time.
After a project wraps up, our relationship doesn’t end there. We schedule follow-up calls and check-ins to see how their brand or website is performing and offer any additional support they might need. This ongoing relationship helps us understand their evolving needs and shows them that we genuinely care about their success.
I LOVE sharing tips, insights, and resources that can help our clients grow their businesses. Through my email newsletters and social media channels, I try to provide valuable content on brand strategy, web design, SEO, and more. It’s a way to keep the conversation going and offer continuous value.
Ultimately, fostering brand loyalty is about creating a partnership rather than just a transaction. We’re invested in our clients’ long-term success and try to go the extra mile to ensure they feel supported, appreciated, and empowered.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Absolutely. There are a few books that have profoundly influenced my approach to management and entrepreneurship. These are some of my favorites:
Profit First by Mike Michalowicz – This book was a game-changer for me. It introduced a whole new way of looking at business finances. The concept is simple: prioritize profit by allocating it first, rather than treating it as an afterthought. Implementing this method has helped me create a more sustainable and profitable business model. It’s all about ensuring that the business supports itself and its owner, rather than the other way around.
Traction by Gino Wickman – Traction provided a solid framework for scaling and managing my business. The Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) outlined in the book offers practical tools and strategies for streamlining operations, setting clear goals, and maintaining accountability. It’s like having a playbook for running a successful business, and it’s been instrumental in helping me keep Sunday Muse Design on track and growing.
Obsessed by Emily Heyward – As a brand strategist, Obsessed really resonated with me. Emily Heyward dives deep into what makes brands truly stand out and create lasting connections with their audiences. It’s all about building a brand that people don’t just like, but love and are passionate about. This book has inspired me to help my clients create brands that are not only visually appealing but also deeply meaningful and engaging.
These books have provided invaluable insights and practical advice that I’ve been able to apply directly to my business. They’ve helped shape my philosophy of running a business that’s not only profitable and efficient but also purpose-driven and customer-focused. 10/10 recommend all 3 of these books.
