We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Crystal Afriyie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Crystal, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I manage my own social media accounts. My company is small and upcoming so it’s easy to manage my social media page. Social media can be a powerful tool for connecting with customers in many ways such as customer service, brand awareness, customer relationships, contests, & KPIs. I enjoy connecting with my customers in real time and meeting their needs immediately especially if there are any order delays. Social media also helps keep up with the latest trends concerning your business market.

I am a communication expert and a recent graduate of LSE (London School of Economics and Political Science) where I studied Media and Communications. I have experience working in radio, film, and podcast production, social media, and television. I am also the creative director of CA Naturals. I love expressing my creativity through my brand. I was inspired to start my skincare line after toiling with all types of skincare lines that did not accommodate my skin’s needs, In 2019. I became exhausted by spending so much money on skincare products that worked partially for me. My acne, black spots, and dermatitis were not getting any better. I always thought that the more ingredients and cost of a product proved its effectiveness until I discovered the jar of shea butter in my closet that I occasionally use for my hair and I decided to try it on my face. In less than a month, I started to see the changes in my skin and I investigated more into natural fixes to help my skin. Much to my surprise, I resolved my long skin defect with just two ingredients. Bingo! I began mixing my ingredients and cut down the cost to almost 60%. CA Naturals is a bath and body brand from New York. My products are made from natural ingredients that are exceptional for the body, with benefits and properties that would help nourish your skin.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Providing great customer service has been the best forefront of my client base-building strategy and also engage in social media contests such as customer giveaways and discounts.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The way I gained an audience was through social media reposts from friends and family. That’s the best way to build your audience.
