Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Valerie Brion. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Valerie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
My main goal as a Licensed Esthetician has always been to go solo and start my own business. Although it was very exciting, it was also intimidating. I explored with the idea plenty of times before I actually executed.
My motivation to just go ahead and start came after I figured out what I wanted my business name to be. The name “So Waxxed LLC” is so special to me because it was on a family trip to Vegas where it all started. One of my family members mentioned to another family member that she looked like she had been “So Waxed” because her skin was hairless and smooth! That lit a lightbulb in my head and I knew that was the perfect business name for a waxing studio.
After that, I began to look into studios to rent, supply overhead charges, materials needed, etc. Of course I was scared that it wouldn’t work out but i have always been a go getter and I knew that with hard work and dedication I could build my business from the ground up.
I toured Remedy Salon Suites located in Peoria, AZ and instantly fell in love with the location and all the amenities. My landlord is extremely supportive and motivated me to take that risk and move forward. Owning a business is not a walk in the park but it is by far the best decision I’ve ever made.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Valerie Brion, I’ve been a Licensed Esthetician for 4 years now. I own a Waxing Studio located in Peoria, AZ. Aside from full body waxing, we also offer brow services such as laminations and tinting, intimate brightening services & facials.
I first got into waxing and skincare when I was about 18 yrs old. I struggled with finding the right esthetician to wax my brows, everyone I went to would botch my brows and I felt discouraged so i bought a waxing pot and began to wax my own brows. I enjoyed waxing and decided that I wanted to pursue a career in the beauty industry.
Being in this industry is very rewarding because I am allowed to make my clients feel beautiful and confident. I strive to make So Waxxed LLC a safe space for my clients. The connections I build is what assures me that I am in the right field. I would love all of my potential supporters to know that So Waxxed LLC is a judge free zone and our main goal is to always make you feel comfortable and give you the best service whether it’s your first time or 20th time.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Owning a business is like riding a rollercoaster, you will have your up’s, down’s, and all the loops in between. You may go from being fully booked to having slow days. I myself have encountered slow seasons but that never made me question the future of my business, it only made me more resilient. During those challenging times is when you are truly put to the test and with hard work and faith, everything you put your mind to is possible.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients is word of mouth. It is amazing how quickly potential clients find out about you just through other clients. When you truly take care of your clients and provide exceptional service, they will do the marketing for you! Reviews are also a great source of marketing and truly appreciated.
