We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Victoria Mnatsakanova a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I was able to recognize my passion for teaching and photography early on, influenced in part by my grandfather’s hidden artistic legacy. The early exposure to his architectural files and portraits evidently sparked a lasting fascination with creativity within me.
My experience with art education reflects common challenges many artists face. The shift from loving your elementary art school experience to feeling disconnected in middle school is something many can relate to. It’s understandable to have regrets about quitting, but my return to art in my thirties shows resilience and commitment to my craft.
Now, as I continue to grow and develop as an artist and educator, I am not only capturing significant moments for my clients but also imparting my passion for art in my students. This dual role of photographer and teacher allows me to share that sense of wonder I carried since childhood, nurturing creativity in others just as it was nurtured in me.
I think it is important to persevere and stay true to your passions, even if there are periods of doubt or hiatus. My dedication to learning and improving serves as a testament to the enduring joy that art can bring.
I keep fostering that sense of wonder and creativity, both in myself and in those I teach and photograph. My journey is a reminder of the transformative power of art in our lives.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an Arizona-based photographer. Specializing in lifestyle, maternity, family, and wedding photography, my artistry is a reflection of my upbringing and the diverse experiences that have shaped my artistic vision.
As a child, I attended an art school, where my love for visual arts blossomed. Later, I became a teacher, nurturing the creative minds of my students. However, it was when I became a mother that my journey into photography truly began. Fueled by the desire to capture the fleeting moments of my children’s childhood, I discovered the profound ability of photographs to evoke sweet and warm memories.
Photography then transcended from being an art to becoming a calling. Starting with capturing the humanistic beauty found in everyday situations, I gradually transitioned to the realm of weddings, and family portraits.
For me wedding or family photos are not just images; they are a collection of moments intricately woven together to narrate the unique story of a family’s connection. My photographs are not just pictures; they are stories crafted with love, diligence, professionalism, and a uniquely artistic perspective.
I invite you to embark on a journey of capturing your life’s timeless moments. Whether it’s the warmth of family, the anticipation of a new life, or the celebration of love at a wedding, I am dedicated to creating stories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
I am always eager to embark on new creative journeys and collaborate with individuals who share a passion for visual storytelling. Feel free to connect with me to discuss how we can bring your vision to life through the lens.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I am still in the process of building my audience, I am still learning, but really focusing more on my creative work first.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
To put it shorty it is the impact I make on my clients and students, connections I create. And continuous growth.
