Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danielle Langton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Danielle, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Client success stories are so powerful! It’s something I’ll never tire of hearing about and will always stop everything to celebrate with them…especially when they 4x their revenue in 4 months.
One of my favorite customer success stories is from a client who hired me after going out on her own in 2020. She is a personal stylist working with elite clients who was on the edge of burnout. The client work she does lights her soul on fire, but the tasks of running the business were weighing her down.
We needed to come up with a strategy that allowed her to hire the support she needed to run social media, send contracts and invoices, help with scheduling appointments, etc. AND a strategy that would show her that she could charge more for her services. (Deep down she knew she could charge more – she believed it and was open to receiving it.)
However, first, we needed to iron out the details of bringing on a supportive team. The stress of running the behind-the-scenes of a business will always feel heavy if we ignore it. Therefore, within weeks, she brought on her assistant as a full-time employee and hired an accountant, plus, two interns.
Following that huge task, she transitioned from manually sending and tracking her contracts and invoices to automating everything with Honeybook. A tool we recommend for a lot of our clients for contracts + invoices.
Our client could now focus on what she loves the most..her clients and their transformations! We sat down to dig into her existing packages and how much she was charging. Given the value she delivers, plus the never-ending demand of her services, and her results, we decided on a new pricing model for her business.
No more hourly contracts. Her pricing would shift to a flat fee plus a new high-level membership for her most elite clients. By April 2022, she exceeded her revenue from all of 2021…and in June 2022 she celebrated her highest cash month since inception.
When you have the right people and systems supporting you, anything is possible! Our client was ready to invest in her business and her ROI will be ~10x. For example, would you pay someone $100 to receive $1000 in return? Absolutely!
Not only is the increase in revenue a huge win, but our client was able to take a 10 day vacation completely unplugged. Her time and energy are preserved for when she needs it most — no burnout or hustle required.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
When I was young, my parents worked multiple jobs, and I realized early on that hard work didn’t always equate to more money. They were/are some of the most hardworking people I know, yet still struggled financially. So I prioritized higher education, studying business in college, and landed my “dream job” – a corporate position that seemed like the beginning of a successful career. I set out to climb the corporate ladder.
But despite all of my hard work, accolades, and travel over 10 years, I ultimately realized that a corporate job doesn’t guarantee happiness. We’re told a corporate job will provide financial security, and while that can be accurate, it also has a ceiling you can’t break through. I felt trapped. I knew I was meant for more.
I realized that I was missing something in my professional life, and knew a sharp pivot was the right move to rediscover my purpose, joy, and my definition of success in my professional – and personal – life.
I looked around me and realized I wasn’t alone in this experience, and saw an opportunity to share my journey with others, and inspire other women who wanted to achieve their business goals, on their terms, without sacrificing their lives or their livelihoods. I wanted to create a life, not just a living. I wanted to have a fulfilling career, endless earning potential, AND have time for myself and my family.
I leveraged my corporate strategic business development experience and launched a community for like-minded women, teaching them how to optimize their business in order to live their best lives. Today, I help female founders build a business that allows them to make more money, be supported by a trusted team, and take time away from the business.
I’ve finally discovered my “dream job,” and I’m humbled to help female entrepreneurs all over the country enjoy their fullest lives, led by their own definitions of success. Together, we’re building a community that champions women-owned businesses to maximize their fullest business – and life – potential.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’m certain ‘resilience’ should be in the definition of an entrepreneur! It is a core quality to have in order to show up and drive a business forward every week.
So many stories about being resilient come to mind when I think about my entrepreneurial journey. However, the one I’ll share is one of my favorites!
Back in 2020, I invested in a six-month mastermind with other female entrepreneurs to grow their business to multiple six figures. Within that mastermind, I met someone who was the yin to my yang. Her strengths are my areas of opportunity and vice versa. She has corporate experience, has launched multiple businesses, and is incredibly bright when it comes to all things business. We knew we needed to be business partners!
So we started brainstorming and coming up with all the ways we could make an impact on female entrepreneurs when it comes to money and business planning. A year into the partnership she traveled to Texas and we spent four days mapping out our offers, our ideal clients, a social media strategy, etc. We made multiple hires in the business to get it off the ground. (Read: money out of the business; expenses, without generating revenue just yet)
And every time we went to launch – it didn’t feel aligned. Something felt off. So we didn’t force it.
We stayed committed to finding the RIGHT business to partner on. And here we are two years later about to test launch a new SPF product!
Talk about a pivot! However, with our backgrounds in CPG and my diagnosis with melanoma years ago, this product is so aligned! We have the time, energy, and space to bring this to life in the most authentic way.
Had we pushed through on the wrong business OR thrown in the towel after feeling like we put so many hours and dollars into a business and received nothing in return, we wouldn’t be here launching a dream product! That is true resilience in my mind.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
“You must work really hard in order to be successful.” and “Success is defined by the amount of money in your bank account.”
I thought this was the only way. My parents worked multiple jobs, didn’t go to college, and were some of the hardest workers I knew. I had everything I ever needed growing up, but “money didn’t grow on trees.” It was a bit of a struggle.
So, I got my undergrad degree, got a full-time job at a Fortune 500, got my master’s degree, and worked 60+ hours a week. I traveled all over the world, led an incredible team, racked up airline and hotel points like it was my job, and made more money than I had ever had. I wanted to make six figures before I was 30…and I hit that goal by 29.
And I felt nothing. I was so incredibly numb to the money because I was utterly miserable. Here I was, working harder than ever, making money, and from the outside looking in, “successful”.
I realized that no amount of money, titles, or perks were going to make me feel fulfilled. That was up to ME!
Today, I’m a personal development junkie and have built a thriving business around helping women run a business that allows them to create a life, not just a living. We GET to have both!
