We recently connected with Haris Car and have shared our conversation below.
Haris, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At Artisanal Goods, we meticulously craft our croissants and beverages using the highest quality ingredients, with fine attention to detail, while always striving to put a smile on our customers faces. What makes us unique, is that from top to bottom, we all share a similar and unifying quality as a team – we all care about our community and genuinely love greeting and getting to know our customers on a daily basis. We value that connection. “Artisanal Goods” is not just a name – it embodies who we are. Every single item we prepare and sell is produced with great diligence and attention to detail. We never want to take this for granted. The greatest privilege we have is serving our wonderful community.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Haris Car. After being inspired by a trip to Peru in the summer of 2019, I started my business. We originated as a chocolate company in 2019 and have since rebranded to “Artisanal Goods by Car” with an emphasis on our delicious croissants and coffee/tea beverages. From the beginning, everything we did was done with the utmost quality in mind. As we started to expand on our offerings, I became intrigued by the process of making artisanal croissants. It was such a painstaking process with so many details and my brain was just hungry to learn. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and reached out to people I knew who produced croissants and from there I started experimenting. A year later we launched our croissants in our bakery and what came from that is nothing short of a blessing. Our most popular product is our chocolate croissant. We not only make the croissant, but we also make the chocolate that goes into it from bean-to-bar. This product was a culmination of so many hours and long nights over the span of a year as we figured it out.
What has made this process so special and so unique is our team. Our team is like family. They all trust me with my vision for my company and to lead them. This has been my greatest honor and privilege in business.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In life, sometimes an obstacle can seem too daunting to overcome. I have felt like that many times in my life and especially in business. However, there are people who stop and accept failure, and there are those who take the loss and get up the next day ready to tackle that horse again. I find myself on the latter of that metaphor. The creation of our chocolate croissant was something that took a year. First, it was working out the dough recipe. The recipe was tweaked time and time again until the texture of the dough was perfect. Then, it was learning the lamination process (layering dough & butter). Then, sourcing the best butters and testing to find the one with the best flavor in the finished croissant. You can catch my drift of where I am going with this. Great attention to detail allows you to focus on your product and not just be able to pin point issues, but be able to solve them. My team and I greatly pride ourselves in the quality of our croissants not just because we use the best ingredients, but also because we carry so much intentionality and focus in crafting every single croissant.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
The best way to connect with our customers is in person. We strive to greet every single customer with a smile and to have genuine conversation with them. This is what fosters our brand loyalty. People know that they’ll consistently get the best quality and service every time they spend their hard earned money with us.
We also have a monthly newsletter we send out to our subscribers and here we highlight our focus points for that month and introduce a new “Monthly” croissant for that month. This has been a great hit with our community!
