We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tahnee Wilson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tahnee , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The Broken Circle Soap Co. was built on the foundation of breaking generational cycles that we were both exposed to. When we became moms, we decided that we no longer wanted to continue with the same cycles passed down to us from our parents. We knew our children deserved better and vowed to work hard to break those cycles. We understand how incredibly hard this can be. Especially when it means you are healing from things that should have broken you. So many people are also trying to be the best version of themselves, despite what they were dealt in life. We wanted to create a space that allows people to know they aren’t alone.. This is where our name stemmed from. A cycle is like a circle, it never ends. However, we decided to break those cycles, Hence “The Broken Circle Soap Co.” It is so important to us that the community knows that we are a safe place to be yourself and that we are with like-minded people.
It is important to us to provide all-natural bath and body products to everyone while providing total transparency. So many people struggle with skin issues and the mainstream bath and body products are full of things that are not meant to be put on the skin. Bringing it back to basics, we make soap the cold process way. All other products have minimal, skin-loving ingredients in them as well. We use ingredients that come from nature and are meant to help nourish the skin instead of harming it. We are moms of littles and wanted to make sure we were only using the best ingredients on our family’s skin, as well as creating a space for our community to have them too.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tahnee Wilson and I am the maker for The Broken Circle Soap Co. I am one half of this beautiful business. I am a Respiratory Therapist who walked away from the bedside post-pandemic. I wanted to get out of the medical field but I had no idea what I wanted to do. I was lost. Fast forward to a coffee date with Desiree, the other half of this beautiful business. We started chatting about my situation and somehow stumbled upon chatting about bath and body products. I told Desi that my son had eczema and I wanted to start making my own soap for him. And BOOM the idea for The Broken Circle Soap Co was born.
My name is Desiree Davis and I am the other half of The Broken Circle Soap Co. The Broken Circle Soap Co. was started during a very dark period in mine and my cousins life. I was seeking both internal and external healing. I was committed to making intentional lifestyle changes, and the first step was to avoid living a divided life. Though I still balance my career in real estate with my passion project, I am diligently working alongside my business partner and cousin, Tahnee to live my true purpose in this life.
By day, I’m immersed in real estate, but in my “free” time, I am passionate about helping others heal, healing myself, and inspiring others to understand their life’s true meaning and purpose. I firmly believe that everyone is presented with opportunities, but it’s crucial to align with and believe in your worthiness to bring them to life. Believing is the key to making anything possible.
The idea for The Broken Circle Soap Co. came to me as a divine inspiration only a few weeks before I had a coffee date with Tahnee. When Tahnee, who was also seeking change, shared her heart with me, I felt compelled to tell her about the business idea that had been placed in my heart. To my surprise, Tahnee’s heart was already aligned with this vision. She had been searching for business ideas that would allow her to live her true purpose without feeling divided. Initially, I thought I wanted to bring a fix to Tahnee’s situation, but now looking back, I realize I had nothing to do with it. I was just a tool God used to breathe life back into my cousin. I believe that’s exactly what our business will do for others. God wants to help breathe life into them.
From this alignment of our goals and strengths, The Broken Circle Soap Co. was born. We have each embraced our strengths; mine being connecting with our audience and being the designer of our company, while Tahnee excels in other areas of the business. Although I prefer working behind the scenes, this venture has naturally pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to grow and connect with our community in meaningful ways.
We offer all-natural bath and body products. All things from soaps, lotions, body scrubs, foot care, lip care, beard care, toy soaps, and a precious line. We also make All-natural hand-poured candles. We also specialize in closing gifts for our friends in real estate, custom gift baskets for any occasion, and corporate client gifts. We handmake everything in our Studio that is connected to our storefront in Oro Valley, Az.
We are all about connecting to the hearts of people. For us, this is so much more than a product business. We have created a tribe. A place where you are allowed to share your struggles and not be judged or ridiculed for it. A place to chat about your triumphs over breaking generational cycles and traumas where you will be cheered on and celebrated. We just want everyone to know that they are not alone and we too, are just trying to be the best versions of ourselves.
We have been open just over a year now and we have managed to move out of our homes and into not only a studio that is triple the size of the original, but also, we opened up our first brick and mortar. That is something that we are exponentially proud of.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We are cousins by marriage. Tahnee grew up in California and lived there for 30 years before moving to Tucson. Desiree is a Tucson native. Before Tahnee moved to Az, they didn’t know each other. After a while, they started running into each other at family functions and began to build a connection. They went out one day for a pedicure and a coffee and created the idea for The Broken Circle Soap Co. on that day. The rest is history! Now, we are so much more than cousins or business partners. We are pillars in each other’s lives.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Our most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been centered around fostering genuine human connections. While we pride ourselves on creating all-natural products that address various skincare needs, we believe it is equally important to connect with our customers on a personal level. By listening to their stories, understanding their concerns, and sharing our own experiences, we let them know they are not alone in their skincare journey. This approach has not only helped build trust and loyalty but also created a supportive community that values both our products and the personal connections we cultivate.
