We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Britney Powers-Elzey . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Britney below.
Alright, Dr. Britney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
The shift in technology in the workplace to remote has been very beneficial for my company. I specialize in hiring single parents that cannot afford childcare being that childcare in most households cost over 60% of their income. I created jobs within my business that allows the team to have minimal phone use. Most of their phone use is directly with me. Communication with the client and outside vendors is done via email and a chat service. I also offer a set your own schedule data entry position. There are no pitfalls. The team appreciates this benefit!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always been a philanthropist, for as long as I can remember I have always found joy in donating time, money and experience to families and businesses as needed. That love turned into providing inexpensive childcare to the north memphis community. Watching those children grow made me ask myself, now that the foundation was set how can I further support them? I began offering a pay what you can therapy and coaching service for teens, which led to the 2021 opening of Philautia Wellness. Philautia has since grown into a staple for pediatric mental wellness to overall family support in more areas than originally formed. We now support families in need by providing food, clothing, housing, etc. I am extremely proud of being able to provide free services and support to those in need. For a person in need no matter their age, race or gender to know they can turn to Philautia for support gives me constant reminder that it takes a village. From sonogram care, to prenatal doula services, near free childcare, pay what you can pediatric mental wellness, jobs for single parent households, to total family support Philautia Wellness is a on mission to bridge the gap between the world and the things that God set us out to do!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Social media and word of mouth has been the most effective strategy to growing my clientele. The constant shares and positive reviews give potential clients an idea of how close we are to touch. I like for the clients to know that we aren’t so large or busy that they’ll be just another number or chart note. They need to know that we are at arms reach all of the times.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Keeping open lines of communication with my clients (no matter how overwhelming it can be) has helped build my reputation. Assuring that I see them through to the finished product.
