We recently connected with Christy StCyr-Allen and have shared our conversation below.
Christy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I thought I would always be a corporate babe, who would move up the corporate ladder or start my own real estate firm. I did everything the way “they” said we should do it. I went got the good grades, graduated with honors, got a scholarship, business degree, corporate job, real estate license… But no where in that did I allow God to be God in my life. So very quickly I realized that what I was chasing wasn’t going to fufill me. I was chasing what the world said I should do instead of allowing God to use me and the gifts He has given me. I surrender everything to God and little by little He began to show me my creative gifts and talents. I never thought of myself as a creative but when I decided to yield to Him, He started sending me downloads of ideas and showing me the things I could help people do in their businesses and passions in the area of social media. The more I served, the more clarity I got with who I am called to. I now serve full time as a social media director for a multi campus church in Atlanta where I serve Gods people with the creative gift He has given me.
Christy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am what you would call a Kingdom Creative. I’m specifically called to work with ministry leaders, speakers, pastors, authors and other creatives in the area of social media. I help with strategizing content for personal brands, ministries, events and project rollouts. I partner with my clients and the Holy Spirit to bring vision and ideas to life. Whether it’s building a team, directing on set for filming content, coaching clients through scripts, building systems on the backend, or helping build confidence to show up online authentically, I help where I can serve best specific to each client.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I started on social media in highschool, it was just for socializing and having fun. I didn’t have a reason to be online. But over the years as I evolve, my social media platform has evolved. I believe in being authentic, consistent and personable. I show up as my full self, positive and purposeful.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal in my creative business is to honor the God who gave me my creative gifts in everything I do; in the way I market, engage, serve and deliver on all projects and clients. Keeping God at the center makes everything else simple. He’s the foundation. The scripture for my business is Proverbs 3:6. “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
