We recently connected with Johanna Godinez and have shared our conversation below.
Johanna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I was a signature fitness program developer for the BAY Clubs in California. I built the Glide Fit program and then the B.A.Y. Lifestyle Yoga School program for them and after covid they didn’t know what was going to happen and when people were going to come back to the clubs so they gave the yoga program and so I changed my business name and have been running the program ever since. I feel the universe
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been in the fitness industry since 2008. I incorporated yoga in 2011 after getting certified in my first 200hr YTT. Since then yoga has slowly become more and more of the focus until 2020 when yoga became the sole focus with the school, retreats and yoga events being the staple of the business and even out coaching program.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
With Covid, I had to shift the business from providing services to other fitness centers to running the yoga school
Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
My business may not have them but I do… since the yoga school was a business that I didn’t expect to run, while developing the business I relied on my investments and real estate to support myself as the business grew
