Alright, Brandon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
When my wife and I started dating and became engaged, I was a private motorcycle mechanic. I traveled all over the United States working on bikes, it was fun and a great career but I knew I wanted something that would allow me to be home with her and our future family. That was when she encouraged me to think about installing gutters down here in Texas. I consulted with a few motocross friends who owned construction businesses and they confirmed that there was absolutely a demand for gutters down here and even put me in contact with people who I still install gutters for to this day (so thankful for those friends and their expertise!) We started doing a few jobs for those businesses and advertising in one local magazine and sat by the phone just waiting for phone calls. Then one day, we didn’t have to do that anymore — we started to get referrals from previous clients and all of a sudden, my wife and I couldn’t keep up. We decided we had to get out of that old van that leaked oil, I bought a truck and an enclosed trailer and my wife said let’s go get that old gutter machine from back home in Michigan. When I was younger, I had installed gutters before venturing to motorcycle mechanic school. So we packed up a suitcase and drove to Michigan. My dad and I built out the trailer, loaded up the machine and we headed back to Texas. We have continued to grow and expand since then and I couldn’t be more grateful for the continued support!

Brandon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are a small business who specializes in seamless gutters. We fabricate and install seamless gutters, gutter guards that prevent your gutters from clogging with debris, complete gutter repairs and gutter cleanings. I am most proud of providing quality workmanship paired with superior customer service, The combination of the two is what I feel sets our business apart from others!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
First and foremost, being available when potential customers call, email, inquire about your services is the most important. You have one shot for a good first impression, use it! I have heard so many times from customers, “I called another company and they didn’t ever call me back.” Prioritize customer service! Another thing that has helped our company are the Google reviews, allowing potential customers to know that you are a reliable and trustworthy business that has provided quality service to many others.

Have you ever had to pivot?
When we first started the business, I was doing everything. I wanted to be in control of everything, I wanted to succeed and I knew I had to put in the work. As you can imagine, I was quickly burnt out and exhausted! Everyone told me I needed to let someone help me, hire someone, etc. I didn’t realize that until I grew enough to realize, I couldn’t do it all! It was a major adjustment for me to hire help, to rely on others and to grow but they were right, it was absolutely needed. I quickly realized that I needed to hire people with the same qualities that our business stands on to keep the integrity. It was a pivot point, but I am grateful for the current and past employees who upheld our business standards.
