We recently connected with Monique Shipp-Cooper and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Monique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
As a society we have been hardwired into thinking we are in competition with people. It’s a challenge to liberate our minds from this detrimental set of views. It’s okay to have competitions within sports and academic events, but what isn’t healthy is unnecessary competition.
I believe by eradicating our internalized competitive drives, we can make the world a place full of growth by diminishing what otherwise leads to self-depreciation or animosity for others.

Monique, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey began when I discovered my daughter was suffering from eczema. Her prescriptions became too expensive, and ineffective so I decided to find an alternative. Inspired by the memory of my grandmother’s homemade tinctures and salves, I began seeking out information to find a natural and organic solution.
After hours of research, I formulated recipes that brought comfort to my daughter’s skin. I was absolutely amazed at the results and began sharing my creations with friends and family. Eventually, people started requesting my products for purchase, and Epic Rose Skintique was born.
Having worked over 20 years as a licensed Cosmetologist, I understand the importance of using products that are free from harmful toxins and destructive chemicals. My butters, creams, and salves use only the best organic materials cultivated from a unique herbal extraction process. Thanks to this process, we can preserve all the incredible natural components in our ingredients.
My products were crafted with love for my family, friends, and now for you! Instead of using cheaply made products full of carcinogens and irritants, turn to nature to provide you with the medicine you need. At Epic Rose Skintique, we aim to help you feel relaxed and refreshed, knowing you’ve chosen the highest quality products to aid you on your journey to loving your skin.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
What’s been the most effective strategy in growing our customer base has been to team up with other similar businesses that aren’t directly related, and strategize, targeting each others customers to drive new business to each other.
We’ve been fortunate to partner with various wellness professionals for example:
Chiropractors, Massage Therapist, Day Spa’s and Salons.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In our business model pivoting is a necessary choice . We’ve definitely had to pivot in different facets of our business. When the market changes, consumer interest, and spending habits change. Our brand is currently pivoting. In a crisis, it’s typical of a decrease in discretionary spending and an increase in essential purchases.
We focus on which customers continue to buy, discovering who our new customers are, and building out our new “ideal customer.” Then we’ll focus on catering to their needs and the aspects of our business that keeps them coming back, even in a financial crisis.
