We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Breaun Powell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Breaun, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

I would have started my Creative career sooner!

I started in 2018! with a small beauty brand. Selling lashes and I knew it was something I was supposed to do when I noticed the impact my brand made of my community.

As a young black woman I knew I was called to uplift women that looked like me. I always loved beauty and all the different ways you could express it. As I got older I realized that not only I but most women in my community didn’t hold confidence in there beauty, both inside and out.

I decided after accepting the Lord call. That I would build a brand and social media presence that would reflect just that.

Because I was young and not completely educated on how to run a business yet alone a social media presence. I had a lot of trial and error, I believe that in the season when I started I was the most passionate about my calling because it was new.

But I also believe because my confidence was low I allowed myself to be distracted and caught up in comparison that I didn’t press in like I was supposed to.

I stopped completely thinking it wasn’t for me. Until one day I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to write down my vision for my business and make it clear.

So I did not even think it would come true.. how silly of me to doubt God but how obedient would I be to completely trust in his will and power.

Fast forwarding to 2024 I decided to keep creating as the time passed but I was called again to complete the work that God first assigned me too.

I didn’t know where to start or how to achieve the big goal but I trusted God. And he provided me with a full brand a business that wouldn’t just bring me profit but would provide opportunity to change my community lifestyle when it came to reflecting beauty.

I would change my mindset for sure! I believe if I would have started sooner I would still have that child like faith. Not that now is not the right time because what’s for you is for you and no man or time can take away God’s promises.

My prayer and encouragement would be that we as man would be willing to sacrifice flesh to allow God to be God in our lives. And to trust that in the molding God is building us up for something beautiful.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m Thatsbreaun! I’m a 26 year old child of God,mother and boss!

I work in the beauty industry! As a social media influncer & business owner. I got into this industry because it’s my calling and purpose it’s Something I’m very passionate about. I was taught by God and trained by the holy spirit. To be completely honest I didn’t feel qualified to be in this industry I didn’t feel like I had what the other creators had. I have experienced a lot of trial and error and realized God called me to be me and with that being said he has brought the community to me.

I use my platforms to be a light and a encouragement. I notify my community that God is the way and the only reason I have seen success in this industry. And everything I do is to please him. Now mind you! I love social media because you get to share and create content that noone else can. No matter how many repeat videos you see.

Being a creative is not just a talent it’s a calling that should be used for the greater good.

When creating my Brand Thatsbreaun Cosmetics I wanted to create a black business where the black community can feel loved and valued but also know we have the right to feel look and be beautiful!.

And I want to share my brand nation wide. To create awareness that we as a black community can have it too.

Absolutely!

I felt like I failed my business back in 2019 when I got burnt out and distracted that I felt I was never going to have the opportunity again to share my brand and story with the world.

I believe when the Holy Spirit asked me to write my vision. It was my act of faith on a situation that I knew was bigger than me.

As time went by I felt like man God When…. When the time and opportunity came again I jumped and moved because I knew it was my chance to be who God has called me to be.

Don’t give up! The blessings is always closer than you think!!
