Hi Ayo, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Funny but true story! Back in 8th grade, my class was asked to think about what we wanted to be when we grew up. I was totally clueless at that point. In my cultural circle, the only esteemed and high paying careers were doctors, lawyers, accountants, or engineers. On the other side of my social circle, it was either sports or music. So, our teacher made us take an Aptitude Test to figure out what careers might suit us. And you know what? My results showed that a graphic design career was my in my future! I brushed it off, went to college, and got a degree in music with a minor in communication.
But guess what? During high school and college, I enjoyed creating top-notch PowerPoint presentations and was recognized by my friends for having the best-designed MySpace page. Looking back, that Aptitude test may have just been my destiny catching up to me. What had begun as a little side gig turned into something amazing. The more I got into the creative process, the more I fell in love with it.
As I transitioned from creating graphics and flyers to offering website development, marketing, and promotions, I realized the potential for growth and success in this field. The logical progression from graphic design to more comprehensive digital services seemed like a natural evolution of my abilities and interests. I saw an opportunity to provide a one-stop solution for clients seeking online visibility and promotion, combining my creative skills with practical marketing strategies.
This endeavor was successful in offering a unique blend of services tailored to meet the needs of entrepreneurs and small businesses in an underserved market. There’s something special about helping clients spread their messages and evolve their brand. It’s like fuel for my passion. And now, I am committed to growing my services and exploring my expertise to the fullest. I used a mix of graphic design, internet marketing principles and up-to-date digital marketing strategies to offer a new and effective approach that connected well with my clients. Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Absolutely! My journey began back in the early ’90s when my family and I moved to the United States. Adapting to a new environment proved challenging as I grappled with a thick accent and a lack of trendy clothes, often becoming the subject of bullying and unwanted attention. As a pastor’s child, the pressure to fit in led me down a path of decisions I later came to regret. However, these experiences fueled my desire to empower others and live a purpose-driven life. As I’ve mentioned to anyone willing to listen, I only started making business cards and flyers to earn money to buy cool shoes and fit in with the popular crowd. Little did I know that those were building blocks in helping to shape my future. Doing graphic designs on the side showed me how much I enjoy being creative and communicating visually. Over time, I broadened my services to include building websites, handling marketing, and video promotions, giving my clients a complete package of digital solutions.
After graduating from the University of Houston, I secured a six-figure job but resigned a year later to pursue my passion in entrepreneurship. I founded Leoserv Inc. (formerly Fortune Spark Inc.), which now specializes in digital marketing services with core focuses on Web Development, Lead Generation, Email/SMS Marketing, and Paid Ads strategies. Beyond digital marketing, I am a certified John Maxwell coach who speaks globally about leveraging these strategies for business growth. Interestingly, I never saw myself as a speaker due to ridicule over my Nigerian accent. Now, I use my voice as a coach to change and transform lives and businesses. Growing up as a pastor’s child, I witnessed my father struggle to balance family, work, and church life, living paycheck to paycheck. This inspired me to assist other leaders and coaches in improving their online presence, engaging their target audience, and monetizing their brand identity. Through a blend of creativity and strategic marketing approaches, my goal is to address the challenges that businesses and individuals encounter in standing out in today’s competitive digital realm. I firmly believe that employing strategic marketing tactics can unlock PEACE, PURPOSE, PASSION, and PROFITS.
