We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tasha Crudup a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tasha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I’m so friggin happy I do what I do. I literally don’t think I’m meant to be anywhere else. It’s a blessing I’ve worked ( as a dancer or fitness coach ) for other companies in the past and I always knew I was meant to do and facilitate myself. I feel like I have always been culti

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For introduction my name is Tasha Crudup. I’m a professional dancer and wellness coach originally from New Jersey / NY area. I have performed and worked for the likes of Rihanna, Jlo, Usher, Kanye West, award shows, tv, music videos etc. and me, dance has always been a way to tap into my
higher self and manage a lot of emotion, expression, physical discomfort etc. Having dealt with anxiety, depression, and lots of mental chatter I became a vegan in high school to combat the yuck I felt. I also grew up cross training for my athletic development and realized one day that I am in love with movement and health because of the flow and peace it offers; the tenacity it builds.
I had to make sure others who were striving for something anything good knew that movement and food can be medicine and boost. This is how Wellthbytaasja ( previously lilveganshawty) was born. Wellth is a movement and motivation brand offering yoga, Pilates, strength training, agility and athletic performance training, recovery and stretch classes as well as plant based nutrition for women focused on gut health and hormone regulation.
I think what’s really rad about what I offer with Wellth is that it is truly holistic. I don’t just offer fitness or nutrition but my wellness brand is about being able to function in this world with more ease in totality. Our mental patterns that need adjustment, how we utilize our breath or senses vs times we should show detachment of the material, we offer multiple opportunities for community and giving back as well as information tools and events based in healing our planet.
I want everyone in their own way to feel able to do their purpose in the world. To feel confident in their uniqueness and power and have tools to nurture and maintain them. Wellth is for everyone staying ten toes down in their pursuits and wants to learn how to upkeep the body and mind for that goodness.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Staying true to myself would be my ultimate answer. I may have a controversial view in saying that platforms don’t make you YOU nor do they make your reputation because so much of “success” is who you know , what platform you have but I stand by that. I have been connected and taught for many great companies that really pushed and challenged me as a coach, certified and educated me, dance studios, conventions etc. but every opportunity or project that came from those time frames or communities was because of how I showed up. What I did with the opportunity God allowed.
Being yourself. Deeply yourself and going hard with your craft will always pay off and be felt. No one can radiate for you and I really put a lot of work and emphasis on the way that I radiate. That includes how I “fail” . My entire career including dance has been about delivering what God put in me once given the opportunity so I think really focusing on what I can offer, how I tap in to the one that made me’s vision and want for me creates . Then I utilize that to help others release judgment of themselves fully radiating and of course how they can use everyday things like the workout we just did or what they go to consume changes that. I just want everyone to feel amazing tbh and I think that carries. It’s definitely what you do daily and who you are as a person that allows you to continue to build on opportunities or not.
I’d also say a sense of fearlessness and passionate risk. Love it so much you don’t hesitate to reach out to those you want to work with, know what you have could help someone so get out the way of that, it’s gotta be about what good you can leave on the world.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
