We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Nicola . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Amanda , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I am happy as a creative. Thinking about working a regular 9-5 now just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s not that I wouldn’t it’s because of my lifestyle. Choosing a creative path as a career has allowed me to be the parent I want and need to be for my children. I think about working a 9-5 job often. During the summer are most photographers slow months and I like to stay busy for a few reasons. Sometimes I would like extra income, sometimes I just think about the old jobs. When I am editing how quiet it can be. It’s the normal “what ifs” any human thinks about when they are walking a different path.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Amanda Worthy, I go by Amanda Nicola. I am photographer located in Florence, SC. My business is named ANPOV aka Amanda Nicola’s Point of View. I specialize in editorial, lifestyle, and brand photography but I do just about any and everything. I am married and with two little boys. I moved to SC from CA when I was two and was raised in Florence. I started modeling in 2018 which opened the door into photography when the pandemic occurred. Given that we had to quarantine, I bought a camera to take photos of myself. With my experience in front of the lens, sparked a passion to get behind the lens. Photography became my space. It is my voice when noise tries to take over. I love helping people, so being able to instill confidence in a client is what gets me get motivated. I strive to curate core memories with a click. When booking me you’re also booking an experience. My journey may seem simple as you’re reading but in between the lines I am balancing being a wife, stay at home mother, healing, and more.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
As a photographer my job is more than just a click of a button. It’s countless hours of editing meaning sitting in front of screen, away from loved ones. It’s endless money put in equipment to ensure the best quality. The world is changing to whereas a creative and a photographer, we are just as important as any other person working a 9-5 keeping other businesses afloat.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal as a creative is to put Florence, SC in creative space where potential clients that do reside here don’t need to travel to far to inquire about their desires when it comes to photography.
