Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to TONYA REED-SIMON. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
TONYA, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The Dance Mentor, Tonya Reed- Simon
In the heart of a bustling city filled with the rhythm of life and the beat of ambition, a girl named Tonya fell in love with dance. Talented and passionate who dreamed of reaching new heights in her art. However, despite her talent, she felt stuck and unsure of how to progress to the next level. Become a dancer or become a teacher or psychologist.
One day, I was practicing with the dance team, a dance coach appeared before me. Yvonne Cole was her name, she had me taken aback but felt a sense of calm and curiosity in the presence of this esteemed dance coach. After working with her, it was my mission to seek out other great coaches and learn how to become a dance educator, performer, mentor and teacher.
“I am your Dance Mentor ,” I find myself saying now a days, voice soft yet powerful. “I am here to guide you on a journey to help dancers like you reach the next level .”
Dancer’s that train with me eyes widened in astonishment. I have had heard tales of the legendary dancers, and have my own legendary tales of helping countless dancers achieve greatness throughout the years. The Dance Mentor , as I call myself, embarks on a series of missions to assist dancers in need, each mission designed to challenge skills, deepen understanding of dance, and ultimately lead to their own breakthrough.
I eagerly accept the challenges, knowing that this is an opportunity to grow and learn from the best. Missions involved being tam captain for Nellyville tour, owning a small dance studio on the outskirts of the city, where a group of young dancers struggle to find their confidence and express themselves fully through their movements.
With the guidance of the Dance Mentor, I work tirelessly to inspire and mentor the young dancers, sharing knowledge, passion, and love for the art of dance. I help them discover their unique voices, break through their limitations, and unleash their full potential on the dance floor.
As I have witnessed the transformation of young dancers before my eyes. I get a profound sense of fulfillment and purpose. My journey was not just about reaching the next level in my own career but also about lifting others up and helping them shine.
Mission after mission, traveled far and wide, touching the lives of dancers from all walks of life. I face challenges, obstacles, and doubts along the way, but with the support of the dance community and my unwavering dedication, I persevere and grow stronger with each experience.
And so the Dance Mentor, spread far and wide, a shining example of the power of mentorship, dedication, and the transformative magic of dance.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey there, folks! Meet the fabulous Tonya Reed-Simon, the dance dynamo with a backstory that’s more entertaining than a dance-off with a disco-loving unicorn! Picture this: a young Tonya, inspired by the glitz of Harlem of Ballet and the sass of Debbie Allen on Fame, convinced her mom to sign her up for dance classes faster than you can say “pas de bourree,.” Originally eyeing a career in music, a friend’s suggestion led her to the dance floor, and she’s been busting moves ever since!
In middle school, Tonya joined a local dance crew, channeling her inner Michael and Janet Jackson with the precision of a ninja on a sugar rush. High school brought her to the Lindbergh Flyerettes, where she learned that teamwork is key, no matter if you’re as coordinated as a baby giraffe on roller skates. College saw the birth of a dance team at the University of Missouri St. Louis, unknowingly launching Tonya’s dance career – talk about a plot twist juicier than a salsa spill on the dance floor!

When it comes to resources wish I knew more about? I would say, business credit and how to prepare for business taxes. Keep personal and business finances separate. Get a business credit card to establish credit. Get a tax professional.
