We were lucky to catch up with Kidnxtdoor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kidnxtdoor, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Music is everywhere, and I want to bring you the best quality music possible. My goal is to be able to reach people, and to be a voice for them, to be able to relate to them. I come from a life of poverty and struggle. I spent years addicted to alcohol, drugs, and all the wrong things. After spending time in prison, I had two beautiful daughters, and I was able to get sober from all substances. I have put all of my effort into being a positive role model for the people around me and everyone who might discover my music or story. I’m always trying to support the people around me, and my doors are always open to those who are searching for guidance, inspiration, or just simply trying to chat or get to know me. I love hearing new music too, and I’m always interested in collaboration, giving feedback, and showing my support.
Kidnxtdoor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is kidnxtdoor. I am a recording artist/music producer from Vermont/North Carolina. I make mostly lo-fi, chill, hip hop music but I bounce around all types of genres and sub genres. I love experimenting and keeping my mind fresh as well as creative. I make beats, write lyrics, record, mix and master all myself. I make cover art. I do all of my own promoting and marketing. I manage all my own social media pages and artist pages. I do everything by myself, from nothing to something and I think that definitely sets me apart from the oversaturated music industry. Not many people are willing to put in the work all by themselves, but I had no choice. Growing up in poverty, with little to no music scene where I grew up I had no choice but to teach myself everything I could and never give up. I am on the way to making my biggest dreams a reality and I want everyone to be a part of it
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to make people happy. Music is love, music is happiness. I want to share that with the world. I want to share my life experiences and aspirations with the world and give people a outlet just like music did for me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Be yourself and find Jesus. I have tried to be something I wasn’t for most of my life. It held me back from my full potential, it held me back from opportunity, it held me back from happiness. I had to forget everything I knew, everything I thought I wanted. It wasn’t until I found Jesus and opened my heart to him that I learned life’s true value and potential, and I’m still learning! That was when I found true happiness and my music really started to come together. I had to let go and leave it to God
