Alright, Adam thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I would have to say the biggest risk I’ve taken was quitting my day job, and just going all in on starting my business. I was at a job where I knew more about the job than my manager. He would pull me aside and ask questions about what we can do to bring sales up for our team and get the team to listen to him more etc. Then the next day he would call a team meeting and say everything I told him the day before. I didn’t have a problem with it at first, but then he started doing it all the time. I got sick of doing his job and I felt like I should be doing something else.
As a single parent, (with full custody and no help) and no money in the bank, I decided to quit my day job to go all in on my business. I didn’t have a plan, wasn’t sure what I was going to do, I just knew I needed to make a change It wasn’t easy, and I certainly wouldn’t recommended anyone doing it.

Adam, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the industry all from a radio interview where I was explaining education benefits for military members and veterans. From there I co-cofounded a company, and we went all on-line and had an internet radio show. I started learning how to edit audio, and soon people were asking me for help. After a few years I started what is now Heroes Media Group. Heroes Media Group (HMG) is a digital Media and Publishing platform committed to providing a voice for our community heroes and those who support them. We help people start their podcast and provide full editing services. We also work with authors and help them create their audiobook.
Any advice for managing a team?
When it comes to managing a team and maintaining morale it’s important to have great communication with the team. Make sure everyone understands what needs to be done and when the task needs to be done by. And then get out of their way and let them do it. Also, when someone does something good, give them praises for doing a good job.


What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for new clients for us is, referrals. More than 90% of the people we work with have been through referrals from other clients we’ve had. If you go above and beyond what you promise and do a great job, people will send you referrals.
