Hi Everett, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It takes, drive, motivation, passion, and resilience. I am learning that success is a process and not a destination. When you climb one mountain, you will always realize that you are at the bottom of another. Having a drive and motive is what I believe living life is about. Life is meant to be lived and when you stop thriving for your success, you than stop living. I would like to add that everyone has different levels of success. Every success deserves to be celebrated no matter how big or small.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Everett Stephenson a native of Dallas, Texas. I am the owner and founder of Noah’s Art Acting & Modeling and Everett Entertainments. My start and love for the arts was shown to me at the age of 5. Playing the trumpet in the school band, singing in the choir, joining a hip hop dance group, and starting a R/B singing group at the age of 10. I always knew that I would be a creative/ business owner. I started Noah’s Art Acting after working for other casting companies, and talent schools. Everyone thinks my name is Noah when they meet me because of the name of the business. But the name comes from Noah’s Ark from the bible. Instead of Ark I named it Art. The students who come through the program are building their selves to flow and succeed through life. No matter what storm come in their life, through the program they are equipped to be the best they can be. So just like Noah built the ark to save his family and animals from the flood during the troubled time, Noah’s Art shows the same strength. Everett Entertainments is another branch of Noah’s Art which is the live entertainment part for singers, actors, dancers, and more. I am proud to be able to change the world through our youth by showing them that they have more reasons to be a leader and not a follower. We can all achieve what we put our mind to.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Oh yes! There are many books that has impacted my entrepreneurial thinking. To name a few, Think and Grow Rich, Outwitting the Devil, and You Were Born Rich. These books influenced me to write my own books, one of which is, Unleashing Your Mind’s Full Potential. Each of these book helps the reader to have a creative mindset while allowing you to put into action what you have read. I have learned time management, patience, and everything happen at divine timing.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to get out of a poverty mindset. Which is hard to do when this is how you’ve been raised. I believe that our families who have raised us, learn from how they were raised, and the mindset is passed down generation after generation. Hearing things like, “Money don’t grow on trees”, or “I don’t have money for that”, could have the effect of a growing limitation. I had to unlearn this by reading books and getting around people that appeared to be going where I wanted to go in the future.
