We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Darrel Whitfield a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Darrel , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I think my parents always instilled in me that nothing in life comes free and your word means everything, so those values are deeply reflected in how I treat people and the type of job of I do big or small. I want people to feel as though I care just as much about doing a good job for them as I would for myself

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the world of fitness influencing just by posting my results as I got more serious about my journey. Overtime brands and people would notice how committed I was to getting better and teaching as much as I myself was learning and I think naturally that made people want to align with the things I was doing. I provide meal plans, workout plans, brand promotion, modeling and inspirational content to those who follow me. I think what sets me apart from others is my dedication to learning and getting better and my consistency and passion for learning every little detail I need for being successful.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A very hard time for me was the pandemic. With gyms closing down and still being deemed an essential worker as a welder. It seemed like things were ever changing in those moments but I still had to stay focus on work with very little outlets. So doing those times I was doing a lot of videos of homework’s that were getting good reception and keeping in touch with people who still needed motivation virtually. That time really taught me that even if you can’t do everything you want to do you can always do something.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Relationships I have been able to build with others and finding me ways to be a resource to someone even if they weren’t directly interested in services I was offering because often times people will find ways to include you if they know they can count on you.
