Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to PAT CONLON. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
PAT, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I grew up in Rockaway Beach NY by the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Hence my work being heavily influenced by the ocean and my signature bubbles. This caught the eye of Gods Love we deliver charity that was creating a series of ceramic cows that were painted by artists and place around New York. Mine made it to the boardwalk in Rockaway during the summer. They later got auctioned off for charity.

PAT, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The most significant job and influence was working for Tom Sachs and Toland Grinnell They both taught me about repurposing material and luxury. I later worked in the action sports industry creating and building display windows for different brands. Which lead to me recycling the window vynil when the window or campaign was over. I started using the discarded vynil as my canvas. I liked the conceptual and physical idea of using and selling the very thing that a brand used to influence you to buy a product. Plus it gave me an inspirational beginning point instead of blank canvas. This mash up creates familiar imagery with a twist so it’s not so on the nose but becomes know as me. Like Kieth Haring style or Warhol, etc. The bubbles are my interpretation of natural objects that only last a moment time while showing their beauty. It’s a reflection of the human condition, the circle of life and time.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I’ve dabbled with no luck. I am intrigued by the by the stamp by the maker, the piece of future sales. And absolute provenance.. I’d love help developing it. It’s a better a way of making additions in my mind

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I gained career momentum during Covid. Captive audience (lock down) and pushing out work. Just make work and post. Make work and post. Don’t over think it just push volume. Created small audience that helped grow my following and sales.
