We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lexi McKnight. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lexi below.
Hi Lexi , thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
Leaving a long lasting legacy isn’t solely based on material wealth or accomplishments. It’s about using your gifts to improve the world and make every person around you better. This comes in every aspect of life: physically, mentally, spiritually and business. This is my purpose every single day – to leave a positive impact on everyone I encounter and to help them realize their true purpose and potential. As a young business owner, hard work, consistency and mental toughness is essential to see long term results. However, discipline is rarely talked about and I truly believe that’s the key to leading an impactful and successful life. My hope is to create a legacy of dreaming so big it scares you and then doing everything possible to get there. My unwavering work ethic, drive for greatness and optimistic outlook on life is what I hope to be remembered for. My story serves as an example of what can be accomplished through adversity and an unbreakable spirit. Your mind is the most powerful tool and if you can learn to control it and not let it control you, you will be unstoppable.
– disciplined, hard working, ambitious, influential, competitive, determined to win

Lexi , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im 24 years old, originally from Seattle, Washington. I grew up a competitive gymnast, that was basically my whole life from age 4-18. After multiple surgeries and injuries throughout my career, I retired after high school and wasn’t allowed to compete anymore. This totally crushed me as this was my whole identity growing up. From here I knew I wanted to work with athletes and help be apart of making their dreams come true or be someone they can look to for help as my career ended so suddenly. I studies Exercise Science and Sports Performance at Grand Canyon University. After school, I got an internship/turned to job working in high performance with NCAA/Professional athletes. I gained so much knowledge and experience during these 3 years. I then worked in Return to Play Strength and Conditioning (this was more rehabilitation based) for a year. After realizing I wanted to be an independent trainer, I left this job and opened my own business, LxAthletics. This was a huge jump for me, but I knew that I had to bet on myself and take the risk. I had about 10 clients that I knew would follow me, but the rest was up to me in order to start and uphold a brand new business. I now train a variety of clients: from youth, high school, college and general population. What I love so much about what I do is being able to help and be apart of so many different journeys. It’s very unique to have such a broad spectrum of clients but I love it so much. My youngest client is 9 and my oldest is 76. I take clients for: strength and conditioning, sports performance, injury prevention, weight loss/gain, return from injury and mobility. I’m also a nutrition advisor and have a (new) clothing/merch line with shirts, water bottles and shakers currently.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to relate to my clients as I’ve been in their shoes and know exactly what they’re going through (or I’ve worked with people of the same circumstances). In addition, I am still an athlete and competing at a high level so I live what I preach every day. I’m not only talking about it, I show my clients/followers that I live the life I preach about. I want people to know that I have high standards but that’s because I want to pull the best out of you. I never give my clients things they aren’t capable of, they just don’t know the potential that’s inside them. And I’ve worked so hard to bring out the amazing things in people they didn’t know existed.
I’m most proud of the ability to step out of my comfort zone and go for my dreams regardless of circumstances. I’m relentless in my pursuit of greatness and want to help everyone around me to be the same way.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
As a business owner it’s essential to be genuine and truly have care/passion for what you are doing. People can see right though it if its not done with the best intentions. My reputation has been built by my genuine care to help others get better every single day. It’s not going to happen overnight, its a lifestyle. Being professional but also relatable to people has helped me so much. When you have good character and morals people gravitate towards it and want to be around you. This is done whether you’re in person, social media etc. Word of mouth is everything so treating everyone with kindness and compassion, even if you don’t know them goes a long way. My reputation was built through social media and has helped me build trust with my clients which has then brought me so many referrals through word of mouth.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During my gymnastics career, I had numerous setbacks with injuries/surgeries. I had 2 UCL surgeries my sophomore and junior year which was in peak college recruitment. However, this taught me so much about adversity and perseverance. Life is going to throw you challenges, but how you respond is everything. These injuries taught me how to stay positive, be able to adapt and form new goals/be able to push forward without getting discouraged and giving up. In addition, though these tough times I learned how to set really scary goals that seemed unrealistic but that through hard work and discipline I was able to accomplish. By staying focused and using these as an opportunity to grow has really carried over to life now. Going through hard times really just helps you grow as a person and equips you with skills you didn’t have prior.
