We were lucky to catch up with Elijha Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Elijha, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My father was murdered when I was 4. Leaving my mom widowed with 5 kids in south central Los Angeles (Watts) to be exact in 1991. So the thing my mother did right that impacted my career was show grace. I’ve never heard my mom moan, groan or complain about the circumstances she was left with. I’m sure she was angry and wanted to do all of the above. But she didn’t. She made sure me and my siblings stayed active in sports, always made sure we had a roof over our heads, she gave to and open our doors to others even when she didn’t have it all figured out. Growing up I didn’t understand why my mother would do certain things but As I’ve grown older and advanced in my career all the things she did makes total sense. She showed that no matter the hand you are delt. Play the game the right way and you will always WIN. That’s what my mom did right.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
One thing that I think non-creators struggle to understand is that as a creator there is no blueprint. It may seem easy as if we have it all figured out. Even in my case, some people see me traveling and doing concerts, but they don’t see the many many other things I have to do in order to travel and do those concerts. I.E odd jobs in between concerts.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There Are numerous books, videos, and essays that has impacted my management and entrepreneur thinking. Shout out to my homey Dj heD. This guy put me onto some great literature, but the one that stood out the most was the secret By Rhonda Byrne. This book changed my thinking and outlook on the way I put things into the universe. Dj Hed called me a celebrity dj for years before i believed it. I didn’t understand why. But once he sent me the book “the secret” i totally understood why. In Totality what you put out into the universe, the universe will give back to you. But secret is you have to whole heartedly believe it. In so many words but I can’t express this enough but the gratitude I have for dj Hed is unexplainable. Thank you for ever
