Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aysylu Yanturina Darles. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Aysylu thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back at the decisions you made early in your career, particularly whether to join a firm or start your own, do you feel you made the right choice for that stage of your career?
After graduating from university, my first job was in the field of youth employment. I coordinated projects related to youth employment in my homeland, Bashkortostan. After a few years in this role, I realized my opportunities for growth were limited. This realization led me to pursue a PhD in labor market reforms. During this time, I received a scholarship to study abroad and chose to complete my MBA in Switzerland.
While in Switzerland, I continued my research on labor market issues and began applying for UN internship programs. Shortly after applying, I was selected for a program within one of the UN agencies. This marked the beginning of my involvement in an exciting project focused on poor communities and trade. Our mission was to help artisans, emerging designers and young talents from developing countries access dignified jobs and international markets, with a strong emphasis on women empowerment and job creation.
Over the course of 12 years with the UN, I worked in 12 developing countries, contributing to numerous projects aimed at improving livelihoods. This period was one of the most exciting and enriching experiences of my career. It eventually inspired me to establish my own practice as a career consultant.
Currently, I work as an independent career consultant, helping individuals build their careers in international cooperation (International organisations, NGOs etc). I assist clients in understanding recruitment processes and developing strategies to succeed within the system.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Even while working within the UN system, people often came to me for career advice. I had a clear vision of career opportunities and how to effectively promote and showcase experience to get the best results in the job market. My background in consulting helped me combine my skills in resume writing, crafting motivation letters, presenting experiences, and navigating interviews, all tailored to the UN context. This led me to start offering consultations , which sparked my interest in focusing on this area more professionally.
Being a career consultant comes with significant responsibilities. I need to know the fields in which I consult and understand the areas my clients aim to enter. My 12 years of experience within the UN system give me a solid understanding of how it works. During my time there, I recruited staff, selected employees, organized training sessions, and conducted interviews. I was also trained as a committee member for interview panels.
As a career consultant, I continually apply for jobs within the UN system to stay updated on any changes and to test different application strategies. This ensures I provide my clients with the most current information, whether they aim to join the UN, an NGO, a foundation, or any other international organization.
Some people come to me feeling like they haven’t done anything remarkable in their careers. After consulting with them and discussing their experiences, they often realize how rich and diverse their backgrounds are and how valuable this can be in the UN system. We identify the main areas of work and activities that align best with their past experiences. I also find that many people need encouragement to recognize and accept their own achievements.
Realizing that career consulting alone wasn’t enough, I trained as a breathwork facilitator and PFR facilitator. These skills help people unblock their stress and insecurities, making them feel better during the job search process. Breathwork, in particular, allows them to approach interviews more relaxed and confident, helping them showcase their experience while feeling comfortable and energized.
After conducting numerous one-on-one consultations, I realized I could consolidate all that information into a comprehensive course. This course covers key aspects such as the UN system, international organizations, recruitment processes, crafting effective CVs and personal history profiles, answering tricky interview questions, and handling written tests and other selection procedures.
By creating a course with video materials and insider information about the recruitment process, I can now focus more on tailored consultations. This allows me to delve deeper into understanding people’s experiences and interests, helping them develop their careers more effectively.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The key to building my reputation has been the transparency of my motivation. I have always been open about what I do and how I do it. Honesty with myself, my clients, colleagues, and partners has shaped my work style and built my reputation.
I’m known for learning quickly, delivering maximum results in a short time, and being adaptable and up-to-date. I continually develop my skills and expand my knowledge with self-development techniques. Additionally, I have a degree in emotional regulation, which allows me to support my clients in a comprehensive and organized manner.
I’m not just a career consultant; I genuinely care about my clients’ futures. I’m here to help them gain confidence in their career paths.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I believe people come to me because of my professionalism and personality. My main sources of new clients are recommendations from previous clients and those who connect with me through social media and YouTube.
Even though I don’t promote my services much, most of my clients come through recommendations from previous clients. When people start following me on Instagram or YouTube, they can see and relate to my personality. This helps them decide if my approach works for them.
