Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Whatmore Makwara. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Whatmore , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today
I would have clear vision and clear cut goals and objectives which are timed. Secondly capacitate myself with mentors and coaches in line with my assignment and purpose.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a 46 years old man who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible and Theology from Global University from Springfield, Missouri, USA and a certificate in Greek 1 from Swaziland College of Theology in Cooperation with Global University.
I have 4 years training for my BA Degree, Greek 1 Certification and 4 years’ experience working as an assistant Pastor from 1997-2000. I am currently doing my Masters in Applied Theology. Besides the experience as an assistant Pastor over that period I worked as a lecturer at a School of Ministry. My knowledge from 4 years of training, teaching and assisting in pastoring gave me an advantage as I went to be Senior Pastor for a church called Sword and Spirit Ministries International for 8years I worked as a Senior Pastor until 2009 January and from 2009 to the present still pastoring family Worship Centre so I have over 21yrs experience pastoring. I have worked in both training and pastoral circles and it had developed my Leadership skills, planning, as well as my pulpit ministry and being a counselor, which comes with being a Pastor from working with the Youth, Men and Women Fellowship, Couples , Conference speaking internationally and Prison Ministry to strategic planning for the organization on a yearly basis as well as Life Coach and mentor on discovering your calling.
I have been a lecturer at Swaziland Theological seminary for the last 4 years and an author of over 8 books, Tv and radio personality. I possess good communication, leadership qualities as well as counselling skills. I am hard working, very adaptive and able to settle in any environment with minimal hurdles.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Firstly clarity of vision and purpose was ad still key that made me realize my uniqueness and enhanced my focus. Secondly discovering the skills, abilities and gifts that I have and taking time to develop them , by building my library around them, building my relationships around them and lastly investing my time and resources on them. Thirdly after the above two strategically position myself in places and platforms where my gift could be discoverable from being a guest author in a newspaper and magazine, to weekly radio and tv programs as well as travelling for different speaking engagements developing my network. Lastly building my presence on social media by being intentional via addressing certain burning or trending topics and also being predictable through scheduled live sessions.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media firstly by understanding the product that I possess in term of my gift, talents and abilities. After knowing my product then adding skill because that what sets us apart from everyone doing the same thing or same line of business. How I built my audience was to look for the needs that my gift can meet or was designed to solve and design programs specifically for that niche’ I have. I used Instagram, Facebook, twitter, Tiktok and YouTube because these platforms attract different audiences so that had to be the first thing in building my social network audience.
Thirdly I had to chose either going y certain topics on a weekly basis and being predictable on my posts from text, videos and pictures or become spontaneous about my posting. I used both methods of having weekly topic posting and sometimes just be spontaneous yet managing the frequency at which I post and grew my social media presence as well as collaboration with other gifted people on both Facebook and YouTube lives.
