We were lucky to catch up with Ashlee Marie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashlee, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
I believe that as a life coach the number one thing that you need to be focused on is transforming your own life before challenging others to completely transform their lives. Much of the framework and process needs to start from within for others to truly believe that they too are fully capable of delivering on the promises they’ve made to themselves. For this change to take full effect they will be required to have a complete mindset shift. This takes courage and confidence no matter
race, ethnicity, educational level or business acumen. Many coaches are of the thought that if someone wants something bad enough, they will do the work to achieve the results or change they so desperately desire. Yet they face many barriers at the onset of the change: self-doubt, limiting beliefs, sheer terror. The client will face life obstacles outside of their control. As a coach, it is imperative, to showcase current case studies and share real-life examples of how others were able to overcome these same/similar obstacles by using your 3-5 step process. As an author of Blessed and Bad 2 The Bone, I share 15 examples of how I was able to choose life and write a book versus writing an obituary. I always enjoy watching a person’s face light up when they understand and believe that the coach on the other end truly appreciates the power in the story they are sharing because ultimately the coach sees the power in their own story. Trust, this makes for one heck of a story when I meet with clients who are about ready to throw in the towel, I use my story of vulnerability and faith to win them over and bring encouragement and empowerment; not fear and worry. This is something that I believe many coaches in the industry lack – empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
When I first started out in the coaching industry, I relied solely on word of mouth for new clients hoping this would also build my reputation.
The momentum did increase, and I experienced a temporary influx of clients, however, I learned that this wasn’t the best resolution for sustainability in any business. There are a few factors that I focused on while building my reputation within the faith based coaching market – one that doesn’t necessarily have the best reputation with many claiming to be spiritually centered yet when it comes down to it – the money guides all decisions.
#1 I am huge on client feedback during the offboarding experience I dare to ask the client whether there was anything that I could’ve done better or differently to
retain them as a client once the program is completed. I’m 100% open to constructive criticism and perfecting your craft with each new response.
#2 I am open to collaboration and working with others to increase visibility and pour into other communities – anytime you are
invited to another platform it is an honor to showcase your expertise and skillset.
#3 Professionalism and Faith: Client success stories always showcase the level of service received and the total experience
from start to finish.
#4 Consistency in the Marketplace: Half the battle in business is showing up authentically and frequently.
#5 Customized approach: No two clients are coached the same way – the foundation is the same however the skill and technique applied is specific to the client’s needs. This adds value and ensures that we stand out from the crowd each time. Confidence is built without sacrificing integrity or morals.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A few years back, when I was at the height of my coaching career and expanding my coaching practice, my entire life changed overnight. Having left the corporate arena in faith to pursue my passion for coaching 100% and fueled by a desire to make a difference meaningful impact on people’s lives, I was devastated when I was forced to temporarily close my practice unexpectedly. Now, the thought of starting my own business quickly turned into a daunting reality of failure in epic proportion. Cashflow soon dwindled and appearing online was non-existent as I needed to 100% focus on my family. As I recall, the initial days afterword was tough— clients were notified, and I was forced to pivot immediately.
The financial strain was mounting and just when I thought things couldn’t get any harder, I experienced a personal tragedy: the sudden removal of two close family members all in one day. Mentally incomprehensive right? The grief was overwhelming, and it took every ounce of strength to keep going and maintain my faith in humanity. There were days when I questioned my decision to quit my practice since it was my sole income source, and I humbly surrendered and
reflected on my ability to succeed as a human being first then a coach. But in those dark moments, I realized that this was my opportunity to turn my own tragedy into a triumph, much like I aimed to help my clients do wholeheartedly. Drawing on the very principles I would often instill in my clients, I began to rebuild my life and career, step by step.
Here’s how:
Elevating My Mindset by leaning into my area of expertise and high earning skillset
Purposeful Positioning by joining new networks and collaborating with others to gain visibility to share my story unapologetically
Integrity & Leadership: I decided to lead myself out first and then teach others how to do the same.
Confidently Charge: People pay for what they value not what they feel your worth
As I navigated through my personal grief and more and more challenges, I rose from the ashes stronger, resilient, and bolder. This journey not only shaped me as a coach but also deepened my commitment to helping others transform their traumas into triumphs. Each client’s journey is unique, but my own experience of power and resiliency serves as a powerful reminder that with the right support emotionally and spiritually, it’s possible to overcome even the most daunting obstacles and stand tall and in your right mind.
Today, my coaching practice thrives on the principles of empowerment, faith, and confidence in growing.
May my story serve as a testament to the fact that our greatest challenges can become the foundation for our greatest successes.
