Brandy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.

TeaTown has always been more than just a fleeting idea; it’s been my parents’ lifelong dream, one that I am determined to help them fulfill. My parents came to this country with hopes and aspirations but faced many challenges, like language barriers, financial difficulties, and racial divides. Despite these obstacles, they never let themselves get discouraged. Instead, they worked harder, driven by the dream of one day opening a Vietnamese restaurant.

Taking on this business without any prior knowledge has been a huge challenge. Each day brings new lessons and learning curves, from navigating permits to managing a restaurant. There were times when our doubts are larger than our hopes. The fear that our dishes might not resonate with the diverse tastes of our community was always in the back of our minds.

Some days are particularly rough, filled with uncertainties. The stress has led to sleepless nights and moments of self-doubt. But amidst these challenges, our resilience keeps us going. We continue to push through, determined.

For me, helping my parents achieve their dream is more than just a personal goal; it’s a tribute to their courage and sacrifice. Food is not just sustenance for us; it connects us to our heritage and reminds us of our roots. Through TeaTown, we aim to share these memories with our community.

Seeing the smiles on our customers’ faces when they enjoy our food is a reward in itself. It reminds us why we started this journey in the first place. Despite the hurdles, the dream that started as a small spark in my parents’ hearts has grown into a beacon of hope for our family. TeaTown is a place where people can experience authentic Vietnamese cuisine and enjoy a refreshing boba tea.

Brandy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

TeaTown Montgomery is a vibrant, welcoming restaurant specializing in boba tea, bánh mì, and bao. The atmosphere is casual yet stylish, reflecting a modern take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Our menu features a range of fresh and flavorful options, from savory sandwiches and buns to refreshing bubble teas in various flavors. Our restaurant emphasizes quality ingredients and a warm, inviting experience for our customers. Of course, even before a dish makes the menu, we have many trials and errors taste test! We constantly seek for various feedback; we truly value your opinions! Our family goal is aimed to provide high quality ingredients through our dishes, our milk teas, house egg rolls and more! We want to show a part of our culture to our community and the best way about that is through your stomach! We truly adore our customers, and created many relations that are honestly priceless, we are thankful every day to be here.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I believe that our brand transparency is through us, we serve and treat our customers with utmost respects, we laugh, we learned, we converse. And our reputation is translated across our various platforms. Either in person, online or over the phone we are trained to always be respectful and honest with our customers. Our customers are truly the heartbeat of our business, being able to share something you deeply love so much with a broad audience is a reflection of our reputation and we take that seriously. We strive to learn everyday, learning from our customers, learning from social media and bring new things to the shop often as a thank you to our customers and their support and even have a loyalty program!

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

My ideology is that we take care of the people who takes care of our business. We value our cashiers; they are an extension of us and our family. We strive for continuous improvements since we are still new in our role. We always have fun and look for funny tiktok videos to recreate and promote our brand as well as our products! It’s a collaborative experience all around, everyone participates, share ideas, through that we are able to build morale!
