We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Holly Leonard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Holly, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Growing up my parents didn’t have the most money but they always had the most love. When I think back to my childhood my parents always did everything in their power for us to have what we wanted and to be thankful for that. My parents taught me growing up that the most important thing in life is love and family. When I was 10 my parents bought me a little sky blue digital camera. I took that little camera everywhere and loved it! Later on when I started learning more about photography I asked for a DSLR camera for Christmas. They bought my first DSLR from a family friend and that started my journey into photography. From then on I took my camera to capture the special moments with family and friends. Looking back from where I am standing now I know my parents were the reason I am where I am today. My parents have always taught me to follow my dreams, never give up & to always trust God. I thank God everyday for them and their impact into my life and career today.

Holly, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! I’m Holly. I was born & raised in Bluff City, TN. I’m married to my best friend, Devon. We have 3 fur babies that we love dearly. I started photography when I was 17 just getting out of high school. I have been able to follow my dreams for 7 years now! I also work full time in a bank and do this on the side. I love being a photographer. I love being able to meet new and returning clients who become friends! I offer everything between newborn and weddings. I have always been taught love meant everything which is why I love doing weddings. Weddings are my favorite because it’s all about love. It’s a beautiful day to celebrate – elopements or huge parties!
The number one thing that I believe sets me apart from others is that I care. I want to make you my best friend and hype you up even on your worst days. I take pride in knowing that my past clients are my friends and that I do what I do for people I love.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goals for my photography business is to go full time so when we have kids I won’t have to work 8-5. One day when we are blessed with kids I don’t want to be working 8-5 and miss so many special memories. As I think forward to that day, that is what makes me push my business further and further.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In the photography field there is always so many others starting out and growing their photography business. I love to connect with others in the field and grow friendships. I have a few good friends who are also photographers and I am always cheering them on and pushing them to be the best they can be! It’s not about who has more or who makes more. It’s about friends and being there for fellow photogs.
