We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Niqua Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Niqua , thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I founded Piink Royalty out of necessity during a challenging period of my life. At the time, I was enduring severe mental, physical, and emotional abuse. In my search for a way out, a close friend, guided by divine inspiration, suggested that I start a boutique. Despite having no prior experience in the fashion industry, I embraced the idea. I researched extensively, created my first website, and commissioned a logo through a contact on Facebook. On March 16, 2018, I launched Piink Royalty with just six outfits.
The essence of Piink Royalty is rooted in my desire to empower women. During that difficult period, I felt worthless, but I wanted other women to feel regal, royal, and like queens. This vision inspired the name: “Pink” for my favorite color and “Royalty” for the sense of dignity and self-worth I yearned for.
Today, I take great pride in sharing my journey and styling women who have faced similar struggles. Through Piink Royalty, I assure them that there is hope and that they can rediscover their self-worth and purpose. At the end of the fashion journey, they will find themselves and their true potential.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Piink Royalty was established during my college days while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Initially, I had limited financial resources, but I managed to procure $1500.00 through income tax returns and used it to fund my business endeavor.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I have realized that attending pop-up shops and fashion shows in the Dallas area and distributing my business cards while networking are the most successful methods for me to acquire new clients. Social media has also been a valuable tool, but I prioritize face-to-face interactions, especially at pop-up shops, to demonstrate the quality of my products and establish a connection with customers. Providing exceptional customer service remains essential to my business approach.
