We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ricky Palomino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ricky below.
Hi Ricky, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I have worked on to date is Writing and Directing my first Off Broadway Musical.
Art really is a sensational thing.
Growing up with a music background and a dance background I always felt like I had to choose. I chose Dance and moved to New York, danced with companies there, then came to LA and danced and choreographed for Television, then started a Production Company, Energycore Productions, which resulted in a 20 year adventurous career.
My fiancé is a choreographer as well and was working on The Devil Wears Prada Musical workshopping in New York. Of course went and was able to see the previews in studio and on stage.
When I saw everyone working together, I knew immediately. That this was where I wanted my next adventure to be. And when I see and feel IT. I go full throttle til I have it.
Now, I’m a serial artist so I have music on iTunes, I have fashion line at both of Cosmo’s stores (The Queen of Melrose) on Melrose, I’ve written television for lifetimeTV, I’ve choreographed dance shows in Poland, but this. This hot so hard because like I said, Art is a sensational thing.
During the preview I was taken back to my 5 year old self singing Les Miserables Broadway Soundtrack to sleep with a pillow over my face so I could belt the high notes. I had completely forget about that. Then I saw all of my worlds colliding in Musical Theater.
Now it’s time to get to work. I wrote The Great Escape Off-Broadway Musical, collected a selection of songs that myself and fiancé have released, linked up with my music team, gathered an incredible cast, rehearsed remotely as we are in LA and the entire cast and crew are in New York, designed the set, got our theater, promoted, and put it on.
It was the most exhilarating week of my life to date.
I was made to do this. It went so smoothly with not many rough patches. Why haven’t I been doing this?
Art is sensational. I was reminded of being in Nancy Walton’s Ballet Company Cedar Lake. So spoiled, paid amazingly, limo escort to fittings, rehearsing above 42nd Street Musical, basically living in Annie Leibovitz’s two carriage houses, it was insane. I was so spoiled and felt so untouchable, I never paid any mind to musical theater. But I’m still here and this is definitely the next for me.
I had no backing, no guidance, and may friends that let me down in promoting, the show went up, but we lost indefinitely. A gamble that was needed to be fulfilled and I would and will do it again and again because at the end of the day, I don’t want to leave this world wishing that I had done something. You have to go into anything you do knowing it might not gain or be seen, and it is all just for you and your own personal life experience, but, what if you win?
So go full throttle cause I feels so good constantly revealing to yourself. What you are capable of.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We could not be happier with our results and our clients just as well.
I think what sets us apart from other production companies is the range of freedom we offer our clients. Coming from a movement background, our foundation is built upon adaptivity and capability. Supplying our clients and artists with an arsenal of mediums to bring their most imaginative visions to life.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
A thing that non-creatives struggle to understand about my journey as a creative is that there is no timeline, no format, no guidance, no interior help.
So how does it get done? First off, it’s important to remember. This is your life journey. No one else’s. And life can stop at any given point in time. We are not promised tomorrow, nor the next second. So what light do you want to live in?
I have always loved, tumbling, singing, dancing, family, writing, acting, and fashion. Then once you get out of high school. Your life is yours. I had a single mother and she supported me in whatever I wanted to do.
So life for me has been me being able to sit with each craft one on one, and meet it all as an adult. Then exploring other avenues I never knew existed. dancing in companies, on tv, producing music, music videos, staged shows, performances, dance tours, writing for television. As life flowed I chose to follow what intrigued me and what ultimately expanded my capacity.
And when you are good to the universe I think the universe sends even more good back.
The joy of trying to slowly pull all your gifts into one atmosphere such as a musical, coupled with other amazing people that are doing the same in their own right helping you bring that vision to life, and it’s yours and alive, from page to stage is the most thrilling and fulfilling feeling. Those are moments when you look back and realize that there has never been a map. Just a beautiful squiggly line of a roller coaster of vast experiences good and bad, the slowly reveal yourself to your self. Your purpose and your legacy.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson everyone should unlearn is that, we have time.
The goal and mission for my life is simple. Live life to the fullest. Test and exercise your abilities to their fullest capacity. Implement your gifts to the world. Like, Do whatever you can to bring your visions to life. And be a good person. Oh, and do not be afraid to ask for help.
Remember that prayers come in the form of people.
My mom always said. We are not promised tomorrow. And she was right. We could leave this earth at any given time so when that thought comes into play you have to ask yourself? What do I want to be doing? What does my spirit thrive to experience? And what would I leave behind? How do I affect and how did I affect those close to my heart?
Long story short in one year my mom suddenly passed, followed by 8 other family members.
It’s taken A LOT of time trying to comprehend and heal from however, it is the cycle of life and life stops for no one, and no thing.
I am finally in a place where I understand the true beauty in life, and what I would life to contribute to it.
