We recently connected with Macy Jacob and have shared our conversation below.
Macy, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
All of the projects I have worked on so far have been meaningful to me, however the most meaningful jobs I believe are in my future.
As a young actor starting out, I took whatever jobs I could get really. But now, I am more selective. If I’m putting my heart and soul into a project, I want it to be meaningful. So I am actively seeking projects that tell a valuable story, that represent real experiences, and that I can connect with personally.
For me, that is the reason why I love being an actor, and why I cannot see myself being fulfilled in any other way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was 12 I think when Stranger Things came out. Seeing kids my age play these amazing characters on this amazing show gave me a massive revelation. I cried for like three days because I wanted that to be me! I realized then that it was my calling.
I started taking acting classes shortly after.
Since then, I have been in various commercials, independent short films, and feature films. My biggest job so far has been playing the co-lead of a Lifetime movie. But I have also been working on my own projects with some amazing filmmaker friends. We have made several short films and we’re currently working on music videos.
I love working with independent filmmakers. It is my goal as an actor to work with female and queer filmmakers. I want to be a part of the movement to diversify the film industry.
I am planning a move to California next year, where I hope to start working regularly and meeting more creatives.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I think many people believe that it’s impossible to be an actor or filmmaker. I want more people to know how accessible it has become to get involved in the industry. Some resources that really helped me get started were Actors Access, Facebook groups, and even YouTube.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and by having phones and the internet it’s easier than ever.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I believe the best way society can support a creative ecosystem is by not engaging with AI generated content.
This could potentially take away jobs from talented artists and eventually lead to a decline in quality of the media that we love.
Where so much of the film industry relies on human experience, I do not want to see it over taken by AI.
